Suddath Orlando Supports Running 4 Heroes Inc.! Project Manager Rey Cuellar of Suddath Workplace Solutions in Orlando responded to a request for support from Running 4 Heroes, a local non-profit organization dedicated to honoring fallen first responders. Driven by his own personal losses of close family friends in the line of duty, Rey reached out to explore the possibility of donating Suddath’s moving services for the cause. The Orlando crew assisted in relocating the Running 4 Heroes Tribute Hall from its original location in Winter Springs to its new home in Casselberry, Florida. The tribute hall is a sacred space, housing photographs and mementoes from fallen heroes. Pictured from the Suddath crew is Paco Garcia, Christian Jordan, Reynaldo Rosario and Brandon Torres moving a 250-pound steel beam formerly located at the World Trade Center. Running 4 Heroes also extends financial aid to first responders injured in the line of duty, supports families of fallen first responders, and furthermore provides essential equipment to K9 officers. Our team’s involvement in this project is a testament to our core value of Caring and our commitment to serving the broader community. Kudos to the Orlando crew for their service to Running 4 Heroes ❤️

For those who don't know the full story 4 years ago I started a Wood Bank with my boys called Wood4Good, in Jericho, VT. The organization involves the whole family, Sharon, Devin, Logan and his Bonus kids Leo and Ivy, and is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit. The idea was to teach them about higher purpose, giving back and be involved in community. Since that time is has grown and I wanted to share with you that Wood4Good is going to be covered by the Today Show! The segment will air on November 22, 2023 at around 9AM EST. That is NBC. The segment is called Dads Got This!, and highlights dads doing cool things with their kids. Coinciding with this coverage they're launching a campaign, "Mobilizing For Good" to help us cover the costs for the dump truck and our need and an excavator which is also very important as we continue scaling up. We have already been given a matching grant of 25K, towards the campaign from Waterwheel. Waterwheel is the Band Phish's Non-Profit based in Burlington. Please learn more about this us at the website. Wood4GoodVT.org Here is some more information about the Non-Profit and our cause; At Wood4Good we believe firmly that Vermonters should not have to choose between food, medicine and heat. Our goal is to reduce heat insecurity in our state. Wood4Good directly impacts the lives of local families in need. Helping to meet this basic human need through community action and mutual aid is the foundation of Wood4Good's mission. During this year Wood4Good was able to provide firewood to 120 recipient families so far(approx. 150-160 cords distributed). With 1.3 cords per family, our recipients received the typical equivalent to 4-6 weeks of heat for an average home. As the volunteer base grows the goal is to increase that number next year to 250+ families minimum. We are expanding the geographic distribution area to help families who are further away. In the same way there are no need-based requirements for utilizing a food shelf, local residents can submit requests for firewood assistance and will be granted delivery without question. While the recipients of free firewood are the primary beneficiary of this organization, we believe that when families and individuals come together with the common goal to support members of their own community, the benefits are much farther reaching. Wood4Good and the Axelrod family believe strongly in the value of building community, and the joy that comes from working hard to help others. Please share this with your friends and family and help bring attention to our important cause. WWW.Wood4goodvt.org Wood4Good Warming Homes and Warming Hearts

Thanks to Jericho Road Pasadena for screening Uncharitable Movie. I learned that our culture has many misconceptions about charitable giving. People think "overhead" is bad and they want all their donations to fund the programs. Sadly, "overhead" is often what makes the programs sustainable and effective. The Downtown Women's Center recently adopted a 3-year strategic plan. Priority #1 includes increasing the minimum wage for our front-line staff to a living wage. We cannot do the work we do without paying staff a livable wage. How is your nonprofit making an impact by investing in staff and "overhead?" #nonprofit #culture #payequity #danpallotta #uncharitable #justice #systemschange #unhoused #losangeles #charity #wages #fairpay #impact #investment #sustainability

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” -Martin Luther King Jr. #MLKDay The best way to celebrate the legacy of #MLK is to take action and make a difference. 👇 💜🤝Volunteer - whether at an animal shelter, a food kitchen for the homeless, or for one of your local nonprofits, volunteering makes a difference in your community. 💜🤝 Donations- making any type of donation like money, clothes, food, blankets, supplies, or even donating your time is a good way to give back to your community. 💜🤝 Service Projects- can look like cleaning a park, tutoring youth, planting trees, helping others register to vote, or locating books to give to local libraries or schools.

A colleague asked me today about serving on a non-profit board. Such important work, but I think most people don't know how to get started: I have been on a non-profit board of some sort for much of my professional career. It is a calling for me; I'm actually on two right now. I find I can't usually get the fulfillment at a moral or ethical level that I seek in a professional job, so a non-profit board is the way I meet that requirement. First, the best way to find an org to be on the board is to find an org that you support and like the mission of. My colleague was looking for animal, queer, immigrant and indigenous interests in the Kansas City area. Here are a few I found with a search (the search was "<topic area> kansas city 990", as an example): https://ourspotkc.org/ https://lnkd.in/g5m_SP44 https://kcpetproject.org/ https://lnkd.in/gAsTCHzR Next step, after you have found one or two you like - go find the 990 and read it (search for the org name withe the number 990 -- the 990 is a form they file with the IRS that tells you alot about the org and how they are doing). Also, read their website. Find the board of directors and approach the board chair or if there's a committee that you can find that does board recruitment and tell them about you and your interest and ask how you can get involved at a board level. All boards need to add board members, and they are looking for people who have an interest in the organization and can help them meet their goals. Some boards and board members help with fundraising, some help with events, some are just a governing board, there are many different ways to serve. Serving on a non-profit board is an easy and fulfilling way to give back to your community. How do you give back?

CEO, MVS Inc. & Chem-Pak / 2024 Philanthropist of the Year / 2023 Family Business of The Year / Advocate For People With Disabilities & Seniors / Storyteller / Speaker / Faith Leader / Top 23 CEO /OC500
What does the word Philanthropist mean? “A person who seeks to promote the welfare of others, especially by the generous donation of money to good causes.” Can you only be the philanthropist if you donate a lot of money to a cause? No! We all have Time, Talents and Tressures we can donate. It not just about the money. At MVS, Inc. we use our resources that we already have. Labor, trucks, buildings, product, etc. And use them to help others in our community. How do we do it? We let a nonprofit use office space. We use our trucks to pick up and drop off items to nonprofits. We use our warehouse team to short and store items for nonprofits. We use our vendor partners to donate items to nonprofits. What would all these resources cost a nonprofit if we did not donate it? And they had to pay for everything? A lot. I urge other business owners to use your resource for good. Give, and it will be given to you.
