Breaking news: the EU reached an agreement on the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)! ⚠ This new law requires large companies to conduct due diligence on their supply chains and assess the social and environmental impact of their operations. The agreement is a significant development in the ongoing effort to promote corporate sustainability and accountability. While the CSRD requires transparency, the CSDDD will introduce obligations to act and make it easier to bring claims against a company that has negatively affected stakeholders. These new rules go beyond the own operations. Large companies will also have to deal with actual and potentially harmful impacts of themselves and their partners on the environment and human rights 🌎✔ If you have any questions about how this agreement may affect your business, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to help you navigate this complex landscape and achieve your sustainability goals. YES or no: What happened to the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive? 🤔🚨 Today, EU member states came together in Brussels to vote for the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. The CSDDD council vote was postponed to Wednesday. Some EU governments campaigned against the implementation of the CSDDD, which in turn caused uncertainty among other EU member states. Let me remind you why the CSDDD voting needs a big YES : 1️⃣ The CSDDD is a legal framework. Companies will be obligated to map out, prevent and reduce social & environmental risks in their supply chains. 2️⃣ Therefore, it's a great regulatory step forward in the protection of the environment and human rights. 3️⃣ Companies will be held accountable and receive penalties if they violate the measures. 🇪🇺 The #CSDDD stands for justice, climate action and doing business responsibly. We don't have the luxury to sit and wait much longer. Upcoming Wednesday we need the big YES! 🌍
