Leadership Communication: Training Consultant and Learning Specialist, Expert Facilitator and Coach, Educator #presentationskills #publicspeaking #storytelling #interviewingskills #executivepresence
Last week, my family spent a couple of days up north helping my husband, Don Riedthaler and the Ignite Northwest team, in their company’s test kitchen make and package meals for hungry kids. Between Don and I having worked decades in the restaurant industry, owning a restaurant of our own and having Don (aka Dad) as the primary cook at home, we have an abundance of food surrounding us, especially around the holidays. It felt so good (thanks to the powerful happiness hormone, oxytocin) to spent time in service to others. In the process, I noticed 3 benefits that parallel the neuroscience research in this article written by Brian de Lottinville https://lnkd.in/ggG4wUY3 1. Synergy 2. Cooperation 3. Connectedness More benefits observed: 1. Empathy 2. Laughter and play 3. Conversation 4. Future strategic planning and decision making It’s no wonder companies invest in team building where bonds can be formed. Though, upon reflection, the experience of helping others (for me) trumped some of the more prescriptive team building activities I’ve witnessed or participated in (karaoke bars, and escape rooms come to mind). What has your experience with team building been, and what are the possibilities for designing these opportunities with others in mind? If neuroscience fascinates you too, check out this article by Ritvo who writes about the neurochemical drivers of happiness: Dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin make up the Happiness Trifecta in this article: https://lnkd.in/gqrX5QDA

#hungry #children - Two words that should never go together! Did you know that 1 in 8 children in #washingtonstate face hunger every day. None of those children make the choice to be hungry… Ignite Northwest prides ourselves in doing our part and giving back to our community, and this year we partnered up with Shawn Walton and #StLeosParrish with a commitment of 100 prepared meals…but little did we know that when we asked some of our local business partners like Jeff Winter w/CMA, who donated $500! and Jason Wirth with Bargreen Ellingson who donated a SUV full of to-go packaging and apple juice, we would be pushed to make more than 100 meals. Inspired by Jeff’s donation, I personally matched his gift and we now had $1,000 towards to purchase of food and supplies to make over 300 MEALS!!! A special shout out to the team at Ignite, specifically Ryan Devereaux who donated two days of his time to help make these delicious meals, and my wife Janell Payne and our family who also pitched in to help out! We are now devoted to make this an annual event and next year, stay tuned as our next #goal is 500 meals between #thanksgiving and #christmas #givingback #foodserviceequipment #foodbusiness #hunger #childrenshealth #foodbanks

These donated items will help as many as 20,000 families in our region. Thanks to all the team members who volunteered to pack and load – and to the CFBNJ for their ongoing commitment and creativity in the fight against hunger.

🎈 Digital Communications Creations is celebrating another anniversary! Raritan Food Pantry (RFP) launched their website three years ago shortly after the opening of their needs-based food pantry in Raritan, NJ. The dual-language website receives an estimated 2K visitors annually and features necessary information for the pantry's volunteers and those seeking assistance in English and Spanish. Many of our community members are facing food insecurity, so it's important that those in need can easily access and understand the services available to them. RFP's non-profit funding is designated for basic operating purposes, leaving no room for any other spend. As with any business, a website has become a necessity, so it was a special opportunity for DCC to be able to donate the site's initial development and to continue to support RFP by donating the site's annual maintenance fees, totaling $1,500 over the three year period, to keep it up and running, ensuring it continues to provide necessary information to the community. DCC believes non-profit organizations are an integral part of any thriving community. Having the opportunity to support this vital organization to enhance their presence is key to achieving the DCC mission. #digitalmarketing #smallbusinessmarketing #njfoodbank #smallbusinessmarketing

What does Helping Hands Food Bank do besides provide food? How can our donors know we use their donations responsibly and effectively to serve the local community? How much of a difference do our volunteers really make? Who uses the food bank? How many people use the food bank and is the need increasing or decreasing? At Helping Hands Food Bank, our goal is to be as transparent as possible with our donors, volunteers, community partners, and the public. Our 2023 Impact Report is one way we report the data and stories we have collected over the previous year to illustrates the impact Helping Hands has on Skagit County as a whole and individuals. By sharing accurate information about the need in Skagit County and trends in the services offered at Helping Hands, we can continue to partner together in the mission to nourish our community with kindness and respect without judgement. 🌟 Ever wondered what happens to a tin of beans when you donate it? Here's the journey of one tin from your hands to those in need: 1️) Buy a tin – It all starts with you! You purchase a tin of beans and decide to make a difference. 2️) Donate the tin – You drop it off at one of our collection points, knowing it'll help someone in need. 3️) We sort the tin – Our amazing volunteers sort and organise all donated tins by date and type, ensuring we’re rotating our stock effectively 4️) We put the tin in our community supermarket – The tin takes its place on the shelves of our community supermarket, where those facing tough times can access it. 5️) The tin then goes to those in need – Finally, the tin of beans ends up in the basket of someone who needs it, providing them with a warm, nourishing meal. Every tin counts. Every donation matters. Thank you for making a difference! 🙌 #CharityJourney #FoodBankHeroes #CommunitySupport #DonateToMakeADifference #HelpingHands #CommunitySupermarket #HappyDaysUK #HappyDaysHalifax

I have 2 things for you to ponder: 1 - Last week I was helping welcome people to the Food Pantry for our Wednesday late afternoon/evening hours. In line were people who work in our community, coming after work to shop. I know this because they had uniforms and nametags from area businesses. Some had their kids with them, tired from a long day at school and/or day care. And everyone one of them depend on what is on these shelves to feed their families. 2 - Some of you might remember the panic you felt when you went to the grocery store early in the pandemic and found the thing that you needed unavailable. If you had to shop the food pantry and it was your only option because you were too short on cash from paying rent and all other life expenses to buy food and you got there and there wasn't much on the shelves - can you imagine the fear and panic? The good news is - that as a community - we can actually make it different. We can't change the dynamics that are causing people to need the pantry. (I don't have any tricks in my back pocket to change the economy, to change the housing shortage, to change the cost of day care or someone's income). But we can donate money to a food pantry or buy food to donate and fill shelves. That is in our collective power. I challenge you to to think of a way to make a difference today, and next week and the following week. Even if it's small, it will matter to someone. I know you all and you are a creative caring bunch. If you are looking for ideas or have ideas, your links are below <3
This is a photo of our pantry shelves at the end of a typical day. For over 40 years, we have provided food for people in our community without ever turning anyone away who met our eligibility requirements. For the first time in our history, we can no longer meet the need with our current resources. We have placed limits on how much food people can take, but we are still running out of food every week.We need your help to bridge the gap!
