One of the things I love about being a certified #bcorp is that when we see a systemic need, we lean in. Together with our extraordinary partners at the George Mason University Center for Climate Change Communication, our team of subject matter experts, social scientists, and data scientists is conducting #research with thousands of Americans to uncover the prevailing beliefs, perceptions, and actions that underpin community-level #climaterisk and #resilience. We are so excited about the kinds of insights this research will bring to our #government partners to help them design and implement #evidencebased policies, programs, and public communications that improve our nation’s resilience to #climatechange.

🌍 Public opinion on climate change remains too complacent to drive more decisive climate action. This finding comes from a Yale University public opinion study outlining particular challenges in some EU countries. If we are to achieve the Green Deal objectives, rapidly decarbonize our societies, and tackle the interconnected global crises, we must build a stronger consensus for change. We need many more people who strongly support and engage in climate action today. 🌱 We can build more resilient systems and secure a sustainable future through widespread and committed public support. The calls for more ambitious national climate plans are growing louder. From business leaders to investors, mayors, scientists, youth activists, civil society and many more, the message is clear: bolder climate policies are essential for stronger economies and fairer societies. Meeting Wopke Hoekstra, Commissioner for Climate Action at the European Commission in Brussels, I am hopeful to see accelerated collaboration between governments in the negotiations and in designing and implementing strong climate action plans. It is also great to see business and civic leaders push so strongly for ambitious national climate plans and much more climate resilience at #LondonClimateWeek. Working together on all levels and across all sectors, leaving no-one behind, is the only viable way to overcome the worsening climate crisis. We need to step up action on all fronts. #Mission2025

We’re excited to share a milestone in US climate collaboration! Climate Mayors and NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to foster cooperation and enhance climate resilience in our communities.    NOAA Administrator Dr. Rick Spinrad shared why local leaders are needed to boost resilience, “We cannot have a climate-ready nation without climate-ready communities, and mayors are mission critical to our work...” This partnership will provide vital climate information, support local decision-making, and promote sustainable practices across the nation. Representing nearly 60 million Americans, we are united in our commitment to climate progress. Together, we will work together to create a more sustainable and resilient future for our cities.   Our Executive Director Kate Wright highlighted the significance of knowledge sharing in this new partnership, “This MOU provides our members increased visibility to NOAA’s critical climate data, advanced weather forecasting and world-class scientific research, empowering us to make data-driven decisions that will protect our communities.”   Read more: https://lnkd.in/ej3rr-9S
