Kaushal Ranasinghe The #UPROOT Scorecard project is not just about collecting data but a testament to the power of partnership among dedicated young leaders worldwide. The #UPROOT program has laid the foundation for change in communities across the globe through capacity building and data-backed#UPROOT advocacy. In Krygztan, youth organizations have formalised their commitment to meaningful youth engagement through an MoU. This commitment has paved the way for strengthened advocacy and national mechanism training. In Nigeria, the #UPROOT Scorecard project has sparked a strong advocacy media campaign and strengthened some national youth organizations. These efforts have fostered a robust advocacy system, ensuring that young advocates can drive reforms and promote inclusivity in the fight against HIV. Isolated youth communities are beginning to engage with implementation partners to change stigmatizing laws in the country. Their newfound sense of belonging speaks volumes about the transformative power of collective action. In India, interaction with the affected key population has resulted in the recommendation to strengthen HIV Services for the Young key population at both local and national levels. In Panama, collaborations extend into the indigenous communities. The local implementation team uncovered the indigenous community's challenges in accessing SRHR and services. We shed light on these issues through the #UPROOT Scorecard project and work tirelessly to support these communities. #UPROOT is not just about collecting data but a testament to the power of partnership among dedicated young leaders worldwide. DREAMS Ambassadors meet & greet session with JHPIEGO 😍 The Botswana's only 9 DREAMS Ambassadors 💃 had a symposium with JHPIEGO at Aquarian Tide in Gaborone. The highlights was that; 1. Comprehensive Economic Strengthening (employability,entrepreneurship, go back to school pathways) is vital for Adolescents Girl and Young Women as a way of alleviating them from vulnerabilities and HIV acquisition. 2. DREAMS will conduct a labour assessment- this will guide the Girls on what they need to focus on as demanded on the market, evidence based and tapping into Government Empowerment schemes These 2 components gives DREAMS a leverage to have have a noticeable impact on the lives of adolescents girls and young women, their families and communities. #16daysofactivism 4. Kick4Life F.C. is a not for profit organisation based in Lesotho. I have been fortunate to engage in presentations by the team from Kick4life on a couple of occasions. The challenges facing women in Lesotho are wide ranging and very challenging. This is largely due to the prevelence of gender based violence and HIV /AIDS. Kick4life is not an obvious choice for an organisation to support women and girls, but the programs to available to women and the passion with which they speak of their experience with Kick4life demonstrates clearly the benefits of sport when it is with in supportive and ethical organisations. "Many of the health needs and challenges are linked to the underlying societal issue of HIV/AIDS, and our integrated approach to this project addresses wellbeing in a holistic way. We believe this is essential to improving the overall long-term health chances of young people in Lesotho. The curriculum also includes significant components of #genderequality and life-skills development, which are critical in supporting the adoption of healthily attitudes and behaviours." from www.kick4life.org #football #socialchange

Upholding #HumanRights is key ending the HIV epidemic. We all have a part to play. Recently, SLF partner Icebreakers Uganda shared a statement on Uganda’s recent Constitutional Court Verdict on the Anti-Homosexuality Act, 2023. It highlights the need for urgent international solidarity. "We call upon you, to stand with us during this critical time. Your solidarity has never been more critical." LGBTIQ lives are under threat in Uganda and around the world. Homophobic and and transphobic laws are denying LGBTIQ community members and allies their fundamental human rights. "Since the passing of the AHA23, we have documented alarming increases in arrests, violence, job losses, evictions, hate speech, blackmail, harassment, threats, property damage, cyberbullying, torture, denial of health services and mob justice fueled by the anti-LGBTIQ movement.... we renew our call for the full repeal of this draconian law...." You can help raise awareness in support of IBU and LBGTIQ rights defenders in Uganda and around the world.
