Women have come a long way since competing in the Olympic Games for the first time in 1900, also in Paris. That year, women represented only 2.2% of all participants. The Paris 2024 Olympics will mark a historic milestone by achieving full gender parity, with an equal number of male and female athletes participating for the first time. This milestone will pave the way for women empowerment in the following way: • Equal Representation: An equal number of male and female athletes will participate, showcasing gender equality globally. • Inspiration: This parity will inspire young girls worldwide, demonstrating that opportunities in sports are equally accessible regardless of gender. • Breaking Barriers: Providing an equal platform at such a prestigious event helps break down long-standing barriers, fostering a more inclusive environment. • Increased Funding: Higher visibility of women’s sports can lead to increased funding and resources, further levelling the playing field. • Global Impact: The commitment to gender equality at the Olympics promotes diversity and inclusion, encouraging other sectors to follow suit. • Future Prospects: This achievement paves the way for future generations, ensuring that talent and dedication are the primary prerequisites for success. This move by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will surely exhibit an acceleration in the pace of achieving full gender parity. #Paris2024 #Olympics #GenderEquality #WomenEmpowerment #Inclusion #Diversity #Sports #EqualOpportunity

1️⃣3️⃣ Days to Go! Equal opportunities, equal treatment, equal pay, equal visibility, equal respect... simply equal. But it's not that simple, unfortunately. Gender inequalities in sport are a reflection of society itself. It has evolved over the last 100 years, but there is still a long way to go. We celebrate the advances, we honour the women who opened the way, who spread the seeds, who watered and nurtured them... We support the current generations and encourage those who come after us. Sport can be a driving force for positive change in the world. Together we can make sport an inspiration for equality in society. Paris 2024 will be the first edition of the Olympic Games to have gender parity in athlete participation. While this is a very positive development, it may be time to look at other numbers. What about the representation of referees? Leadership positions? Technology professionals? May positive change, equality and diversity inspire all sectors and society at its best. #100DaysofSummer #LegacyGroupe #Sport #Paris2024 #OlympicGames #Paris

The Paris 2024 #Olympics is a pivotal moment for women in sports. For the first time, there is gender parity among athletes, a monumental leap from the 1900 Games when women represented a mere 2.2% of participants. This achievement is a testament to decades of progress and advocacy. 🏅👏 Yet, as we celebrate this milestone, it's essential to acknowledge the complex landscape of gender in sports. The Paris Games have ignited a global conversation about inclusion, fairness and the evolving definition of women's sports. While achieving gender equality in athlete numbers is a significant step, addressing disparities in pay, media coverage, and sponsorship remains crucial. Women athletes continue to face challenges that hinder their full potential. According to UN Women Australia, despite making up 70% of sports viewership, they receive only 16% of media coverage. This inequality not only undermines their achievements but also limits their ability to inspire the next generation of female athletes. 🌟 To truly level the playing field, we must go beyond numerical parity. We need to foster an environment where women athletes are celebrated, respected, and given equal opportunities to thrive. By investing in women's sports, challenging stereotypes, and amplifying their voices, we can create a future where gender equality is not just a goal but a reality. 🥳 The Paris 2024 Olympics is a powerful platform to ignite this change. Let's seize this opportunity to build a legacy of inclusivity and empowerment for all athletes. Let’s work together to build new tables where everyone has a seat: www.urpenny.com 🏷️ #WomenSupportingWomen #WomenInSport #GameChangers #Olympics #GenderEquality #Paris #Paris2024 #PennyCommunity

So, how can sports tourism help achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls? We wanted to share some insights from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and their sustainability development goals, which shed light on how sports tourism can contribute towards this empowerment for women. 𝐉𝐨𝐛𝐬 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬: As the number of women taking up sports holidays and joining women-only travel groups surges, sports tourism becomes a potential avenue for economic growth. This rise in demand creates opportunities for local women to cater to these groups, creating more job opportunities. 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐬: Female athletes participating in sports tourism or events emerge as inspiring role models for local women. Their presence not only motivates but also highlights the limitless possibilities for women in sports and tourism, challenging stereotypes and contributing to the cultural shift necessary for gender equality. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: To ensure the success of sports tourism in achieving these goals, intentional efforts are crucial. Providing training, microfinance, and support for local businesses owned by women enhances their empowerment. This includes creating platforms for female athletes to engage with destinations, inspiring both local communities and future generations. By embracing the opportunities presented by sports tourism, we pave the way for a more inclusive and equal world for all. #FuelSports #Sportstourism #sportseventindustry

Congratulations to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for making Paris 2024 the largest gender-equal sporting event in the world with just as many women as men competing. Sport is one of the most powerful platforms for promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls on the field and beyond. As in sport, gender equality is a top priority in Tech. Our recent Diversity in Tech study found that diversity initiatives alone are insufficient for rapid progress in tech team diversity. Key changes to level the playing field include promoting tech careers to women throughout education, removing the degree requirement for certain positions, and offering hybrid working. While there's still a way to go in tech, let's use the Olympics as inspiration that parity is achievable and take meaningful steps towards progress. #GenderEqualOlympics #DEIB #DEI #WomanCoach #WomenInTech https://lnkd.in/eTR38nN7

#ConversationsOnHumanEquity #Road2Paris & #GenderParityinSports - finally !!! & A RISING INTEREST IN WOMEN SPORTS Women’s sport is projected to be a $200 billion global industry in the next decade*. In 1896 women were forbidden to participate in the Olympics! A picture that speaks volumes on the journey to sports parity…. Paris 2024. 50%-50% participation of male & female at the sports events. Achieving gender equality took strength, perseverance, leadership and courage. “We are looking forward to Paris 2024, where we will see the results of the enormous efforts made by the Olympic Movement and female trailblazers come to life. This is our contribution to a more gender-equal world,” President Bach added. There will be 20 mixed gender sports events - including in golf & cricket. 🌟 Paris 2024 marks a historic moment: gender parity at the Olympics for the first time! 🎉 It's been a long journey since women first competed in the 1900 Paris Olympics, making up just 2.2% of all athletes. Fast forward to London 2012, where 44% of the athletes were women, earning it the nickname 'The Women’s Games'. Since then, we are seeing massive improvements with 28 out of 32 sports having full gender equality in 2024. There will also be almost equal medal events: 152 for women, 157 for men, and 20 mixed-gender events. This is amazing progress for the sporting world! But why does gender equality in sports matter? Sports can lead the way, showing the world what equality looks like and providing role models to aspiring future athletes! While we're celebrating this milestone, it's important to remember there's still a way to go for true gender equality. The World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2023 estimates that it could take another 131 years to close the gap completely. We're extremely proud to see the Olympics pushing for a more inclusive and equal sporting world, and we can't wait to see all of the phenomenal female athletes competing 🏅 Source: https://lnkd.in/e8SW4n5c #WeArePower #GenderEquality #Paris2024 #Olympics #WomenInSports

Paris 2024: A Gold Medal Moment for Marketing or a Most Likely Another Missed Opportunity for True #Equality? Hey Growth Hackers, Imagine a world where 50% of Olympic medals glisten not just in the sun, but in the untapped potential of #women in sports. Paris 2024 marks a historic milestone: the first Olympics with equal numbers of male and female athletes. But is this just a shiny headline, or a genuine #growthopportunity for #brands and marketers like you? Let's face it, the playing field hasn't always been level. Pierre de Coubertin, the Olympics' founding father, thought women competing was "the most unaesthetic sight human eyes could contemplate." Thankfully, we've come a long way. But the scars of that #sexist past linger. Tokyo 2020 showed us the cracks in the facade. Remember the five Black female runners disqualified for naturally elevated testosterone? Or the Olympic village banning babies, effectively penalising breastfeeding mothers? These are just the tip of the iceberg. True equality goes beyond a 50/50 headcount. It's about dismantling systemic #barriers and outdated #narratives: 🏃♀️ Unequal Events: Why can't women compete in the decathlon while men have their own distinct events? Think of the untapped marketing potential of showcasing female athleticism in traditionally male-dominated spaces. 🤸♀️ Gendered Narratives: From the "beam" to the "rings," gymnastics events reinforce outdated notions of femininity in #sports. Imagine the possibilities of celebrating diverse athleticism without resorting to tired stereotypes. This is where you, the marketing growth hacker, come in. Paris 2024 is a blank canvas waiting for your magic touch. Check out Chloe Gray's in- depth report and make data-driven decisions that truly move the needle for gender equality in sports. Special thanks to Women in Sport's Rachel Williams and SHREDDY 's Lianna Swan for their expert insights. #womenssports #Paris2024 #Olympics #marketing #gender https://hubs.li/Q02gmDNR0
