Teachers are moving all day- we never stop!! It's easy to forget that we're asking young people to sit still most of the time they're with us. How can we give our students the movement they need without losing instructional time? Build 5 minutes (or more) of movement into the lesson! Try out these 3 simple strategies: 1: Stand up/Sit down. It's as simple as it sounds! Get everybody up, then have them move from standing to sitting or vice versa as a way to answer questions. 2: Pop-Up. This can be used in a million different ways. Give students (all or just some) cards or post-its with a vocabulary word or character name written on it. They pop up and the hold the card high every time they hear it! 3: 2/3/4 Corners. A spinoff of the game many of us played in the classroom. Put opinion choices or multiple choice answers on the board. Have students move to labeled corners to show what they think. #MovementLearning #Learning #TeachersOfIG #educators #KidsNeedToMove #MovementBreak #InclusiveClassroom #UDL #UniversalDesignForLearning #TeacherLessons #Classroom #ClassroomMovement #InclusiveEducation #TeachersFollowTeachers
