We are deeply saddened by the passing of Nicholas Peter Fluck, who served as the president of the Law Society of England and Wales from 2013 to 2014. Nick Fluck made a range of prominent contributions to the Law Society and legal profession during his time as president. He worked tirelessly to support our members and defend the profession. His keen interest in communications and data technology enabled him to lead the profession into a new era of innovation. With extensive experience from a distinguished legal career, Nick was a steadfast advocate for access to justice and the rule of law. Our president Nick Emmerson said: “Nick was highly regarded and lauded for his kindness, sincerity and diligence by colleagues and members alike. His commitment to the legal profession transcended his time as president, as he continued to support the profession as a Council member for Lincolnshire. “He will be thoroughly missed by those in the organisation and across the profession. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”

I had the honour and privilege of meeting Nick Fluck during my tenure as Vice President and President of Birmingham Law Society, both when he was President and later as former President of The Law Society. Nick was an understated, warm, and considerate man. His kindness left an indelible mark on many who had the fortune of crossing paths with him. His legacy amongst many things will be humility and kindness. "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." - Thomas Campbell Rest in peace, Nick. #thelawsociety #kindness #RIP #BirminghamLawSociety

I met Nick twice in 2014 and those two meetings changed the direction of my life. He was a President that I could relate too and he was devoted not only to the legal profession but to his family and friends. He has been mentor and an inspiration and I will miss him dearly. Respect, integrity and service...thank you Nick. Sending love and support to his family. Mark

I met him on my occasions during his tenure as at that time I was president of Manchester Law Society. I am sad to hear of his death. My thoughts are with his family. A true gentleman.

RIP Nick Fluck very sad news of his passing and certainly I am very grateful for him supporting Next 100 Years and many of my initiatives from the moment we met. Condolences to his family 💔

This is very sad news. Nick Fluck was a good president of the Law Society - calm, measured, kind, decent and constructive. Before he became an office-holder in 2011 I sat in front of him at council meetings. He was very funny. RIP Nick. You were a credit to your profession.

Nick and I started on the Law Society Council at the same time. He was a wonderfully kind person and would often have a laugh or a joke in some tough times but he was really sincere and compassionate and always had time for others. You've been taken away from us too early. May you rest in peace dear Nick. My condolences to his wife Sue and family. We'll miss you.

Very disheartening and sad to hear about this bad news.  May his soul rest in peace 🙏

A lovely man who was so understated by himself and his own achievements as Law Society president. He saw the irony in events and my, what great anecdotes they made at Law Society dinners when we met. I will miss him very much.
