This is the way forward as more and more litigants in person run their own cases it is likely the first to crack the fully accurate legal AI will be onto a financial winner. But there will be losers - the paralegals employed doing research will likely find fewer jobs. Legal professionals will likely find firms wanting them to manage higher caseloads. Could it even usher in the downfall of the big firms with smaller firms or sole practitioners having the research and drafting power typically only available in large organisations. If that's the case is a significant increase in price competition about to hit the legal market place? Exciting times ahead!

"AI industry trends" After attending multiple legal events in 2023 and recently reviewing some case studies on the role #artificialintelligence has to play in the legal sector these are some of my takeaways: 1) 1. Automation of Routine Tasks, Document Review and Management: AI tools are being used to automate the time-consuming process of document review, allowing lawyers to focus on more complex tasks. ✅ 2) AI is being used to predict the outcomes of legal cases with a surprising level of accuracy. By analyzing past case law, outcomes, and judge rulings, AI systems can help legal professionals assess the viability of cases, potential risks, and inform strategy decisions.✅ 3) AI is streamlining legal research by quickly sorting through case law, statutes, legal journals, and other documents. Tools like Ross Intelligence and others use natural language processing to understand queries and return relevant answers, making research more efficient✅ 4) Conducting due diligence is essential but labor-intensive, involving the review of vast amounts of data and documents. AI can automate aspects of due diligence, identifying risks and compliance issues more efficiently than traditional methods. "Having worked as part of the Legal and payment eco-system, I can affirm, the conducting of DD can be an administrative burden for law firms, excited to see how AI can solve for this" 🤔 5) AI-powered chatbots are being used to provide preliminary legal advice, help with legal document preparation, and even guide users through legal procedures. Lawyers owe an ethical duty of competence and diligence to their clients—as well as a duty of honesty to courts and others ☝ This means legal writers are on the hook for knowing how their tools work, how to use them, and what pitfalls to avoid.
