One thing I have noticed as a professional recruiter is how impatient the corporate world has become! This is particularly evident with clients having a preference to often hire a candidate with little to no notice period if they can. 3 month notice periods seems like a lifetime to some Executives! I also often think about the impact this impatience has on parents with younger children. Of course, fitting in a job around caring responsibility has got "simpler" to organise in so far as employers offering more flexibility, but I don't think it has got any "easier" with this increased impatience in society to get the job done. It leaves little-to-no-time for parents to spend ANY time on themselves. Outcome – First day of work – Chapter 1 of a new job The jobseeker who wishes to remain anonymous feels the best thing about having a new job is being able to dress up for work and working in air conditioning as that makes her more comfortable in the hot weather. Having an administrative position that utilizes her other skills and does not aggravate her health issues is also great for her. Regarding positive feedback, her supervisor stated that she is happy with the jobseeker’s work and her progress in the new role. Since being employed as an employee instead of being self-employed, she has been able to enjoy the regular extra money and the growing feeling of self-confidence. While the jobseeker is a client of APM, Lea from Chapter 1 Employment assisted with getting her in front of the employer for the interview, which then lead to her securing the position. The jobseeker’s employer, John, stated that his business had decided that they needed another Administration person for a few hours a week. He contacted Josh at Chapter 1 Employment and within 3 days had interviewed the jobseeker. “One of the things going in her favour was that she lives in the Lockyer Valley. She started the following Monday and to date, she has been a great asset,” said John.
