Judged by results is the Lombardi tradition, Ken. Thanks for sharing. It seems wins and losses have many measures. We tend to tally performance and value metrics for leadership but our own interest helps imagine them for ourselves and others. Performance and value measures can include alms given, assets protected, bends negotiated, critical incidents mitigated, children mentored, deaths averted, empathy afforded, extortions accounted for, fire alarms responded to, gardens tended, helping hands extended, illnesses and injuries improved, justice delivered, killers charged, lost souls recovered or remanded to care, mothers and fathers thanked, nature preserved, oppressors stopped, people protected,...and the list goes on. Finding our own team's value before, during or after judgment by others can be both humbling and rewarding. It may not always be appreciated in the moment, but it may be our only legacy gift to give, subject to improvement by others. What are the results you care to judged by?

This picture is too good to pass up! The motto of supporting people with disabilities is nothing for us without us. If the leadership for your accessibility plan comes from people who gained those positions through privilege. You take resources from elements of the organization that have supported the actions that have excluded. Those people with disabilities that are involved are tokens with no authority or position to push for change. Then why are we surprised that the strategies and plans promise everything and deliver nothing. This is across the public and private sectors. It represents decades of strategies and plans that have created no change. Perhaps if inclusion and accessibility is truly important you need to elevate those who have experience barriers to lead. You them have to build accountability into the plan and if leaders with privilege fail to create change, hold them responsible. Lets stop having the wolves guarding the sheep pen.
“If you wish to be a success in the world, promise everything, deliver nothing.” - Napoleon Bonaparte

The Gap Relief team is answering the hard-hitting questions that the people want to know! Which fictional office workplace is the most trauma-informed?!?! Answering hypothetical questions like this is a lot of fun and can bring some lightheartedness to a potentially heavy topic. But being trauma-informed in the workplace is understanding that we all have our stories. Leaders, co-workers, and employees alike all have their pain, wounds, and broken relationships/connections. We often bump into these hurt places and stuck spots without realizing it. A trauma-informed workspace understands how our stories impact one another. How it's stored in our bodies and affects our efficiency, productivity, and overall sense of safety and belonging. More thoughts and content on that to come - but until then, enter the debate with us below. How did we do in our rankings? #traumainformed #workspace #leadership
How'd we do in our rankings? Let us know in the comments how YOU would rank them! Michael Turner Andrew Munneke, LAC Amy Butler
