The problem is NOT weather forecasting, as Mr Castix points out: "If he could keep track of the weather and anticipate the hurricane would hit Houston, why couldn’t city and county officials" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Dennis Castex, a 69-year-old retiree, sounded upbeat when he visited a cooling center in north Houston on Tuesday. If he didn’t get power back on soon, he said, he would head to Lake Charles, La., where he is used to patronizing casinos, and try to get a complimentary room. But 24 hours later he returned to the cooling center. He said that he couldn’t find a room to book in Lake Charles and that he slept poorly at his house, where he estimated the temperature crept over 90 degrees. If he could keep track of the weather and anticipate the hurricane would hit Houston, why couldn’t city and county officials, he said. “They kind of dropped the ball on us,” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Large companies and government organizations need to completely rethink how they prepare and respond to these kinds of events and stop using what Wall Street analysts refer to as "the weather excuse." Citizens and customers will take their business elsewhere if large organizations continue to drop the ball on them.
