Germany has become one of the world's largest solar power producers, with a significant share in electricity production. However, the solar power industry has faced challenges, though recent government policies aim to bolster expansion. ☀️Germany ranks among the top solar power producers globally, with an installed capacity of 61 GW and contributing 12% to the country's net power consumption in 2023. ☀️Solar power output in Germany reached a record high of 68% of the entire electricity mix on July 7, 2023, demonstrating its potential during peak sunlight hours. ☀️The solar power industry in Germany experienced rapid growth after the Renewable Energy Act in 2000, leading to a surge in capacity but faced a decline post-2012 due to competition from cheaper foreign suppliers, resulting in the closure of major companies and a loss of jobs. ☀️Despite challenges, government policies aiming for 80% renewables in electricity production by 2030 and 100% by 2035 have led to increased investor interest and expansion, with rooftop installations driving much of the growth, doubling the number of installed solar power batteries in 2023.
