🌍 Most impact investors (76%) use the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to guide their impact practice, according to 2023 GIIN research. That’s why we’re launching a feature for impact investors to track their performance relative to the SDGs. 🌾 Through the agriculture impact performance benchmark available on the GIIN website, investors in this sector can use the new SDG tab to understand the impact performance needed across regions and countries to achieve the SDG goals by 2030. To receive personalized analytics and information about how your investments track with SDGs, you can anonymously submit your data through IRIS+. 📊 Interested in comparing your performance to SDGs for other sectors? Every time I say this out loud, it startles me! Investors cannot know their progress until they compare their performance to something—last year's performance, their peers, or a threshold of required performance. Investors focused solely on financial returns do this with ease. There is sufficient performance data available, allowing them to successfully track their financial progress. They can compare their performance to last year (e.g., percentage change from last year), to peers (e.g., relative performance in the same class, sector, or geography), and to a threshold (e.g., relative to an index or economic measure). However, impact investors, who aim for both impact performance and financial return, have more work to do. They need to develop the discipline of sharing impact-relevant data and using tools to perform similar comparisons. The GIIN's impact performance benchmarks are a step in the right direction for impact investors to track their impact performance. Imagine knowing whether you are missing the mark or hitting the sweet spot for the effectiveness and efficiency of your impact results! This knowledge would significantly influence your future decisions. Even inform the choices you make to retain an investment, the technical assistance you draw in, the management discussions you may have, and the direction of your proxy voting - all in the interest of improving impact and financial performance. Comparing performance to widely used SDG thresholds shows what is possible for any threshold. It also provides a stronger foundation for investors to manage toward positive outcomes for people and the planet. Well done, The Global Impact Investing Network Research and the Impact Lab! #impactinvesting #impactmanagement

Today we are shining a light on Little Blue Research — an independent consultancy that specializes in the provision of technical support on environmental economics and social impact valuation. Capitals Coalition is a community made up of over 400 organizations and individuals from across the globe, united to advance the capitals approach to decision-making. Every year 40 leading organizations are invited to join the coalition’s Advisory Panel which provides input and guidance that feeds into our strategic development. Little Blue Research helps businesses navigate the nature readiness landscape, working with companies to identify, measure and value impacts & dependencies of programmes, interventions and investments in nature and people. They will be launching a sustainability practitioner survey in mid June to collect information on the challenges of integrating nature into decision-making and how these can be overcome. #CapitalsCoalition #ImpactManagement #NatureReadiness

❓ Did you know: 85% of our market mapping work this year had a specific focus on sectors that impact the Sustainable Development Goals, up from 60% of projects last year, demonstrating the strong and growing ESG alignment of African-focused investors. We mapped markets relevant to food security, circular economy, and healthcare. Equality of opportunity was also a consistent theme among clients, including several projects explicitly addressing underserved populations. We observed particular growing demand for climate-related company data; from green energy market-sizing to identifying climate-resilience agro-contributors. This is backed up by a growing number of new, climate-focused funds announcing themselves in recent months. 💡 Find out what our research and data can do for you: https://loom.ly/C4MnYkE

3moThis is quite insightful to note that 76% of impact investors align their IMM objectives with the UN SDGs. It's time to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs - if all investments could integrate impact with risk and return in alignment with the SDGs. According to the UN, the world will need at least USD $3 trillion annual investments to achieve the SDGs. #ImpactInvesting #SustainableInvesting #ImpactMeasurementandManagement (IMM) #SDGs #ImpactRiskReturn -
