We're excited to announce that Dr. Vânia de la Fuente-Núñez, Healthy Ageing Senior Advisor at The Fred Hollows Foundation, will be speaking at the upcoming IAPB Conference in Mexico. Don't miss her insightful session ‘How can eye health advance healthy ageing?’ on 27 June from 15:15 to 16:15 local time in the Changemakers Room! Seventy three per cent of avoidable vision loss occurs in people who are 50 and over. Good eye health is key for us to reap the benefits of our increased longevity. Yet, older populations remain largely invisible in eye healthcare efforts as reflected in the report Connecting Healthy Ageing and Vision, which you can read at https://lnkd.in/gyHfy2Un On April 17-18, in Manila, The Fred Hollows Foundation and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the Australia-ASEAN Council, brought together leading organizations dedicated to ageing and vision in Asia and the Pacific. This landmark event produced the Manila Statement, which outlines essential actions to enhance eye health for older populations. Older People are central to achieving the 2030 in Sight goals. The Manila Statement is a crucial step in advancing the global vision agenda and making healthy ageing a reality for millions. Let’s continue this important conversation and drive action together. #EyeHealth #HealthyAgeing #2030inSight #VisionForEveryone cc Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade , International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) , CBM Christian Blind Mission , International Federation on Ageing , HelpAge International

I am excited to announce the launch of the first status report on the use of behavioural and cultural insights (BCI) in Europe and Central Asia. This marks a critical juncture. It’s the first reporting to @WHO Regional Office for Europe following the resolution adopted in September 2022, which emphasized the pivotal role of behaviour and cultural context in achieving equitable health outcomes. Results show the considerable work ahead to meet the ambitious 2026 targets but I’m convinced that together we can get through these challenges and bridge gaps. Together, we can use BCI to address the health challenges and major killers of our time. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJYe94zG.

In Australia, we have the opportunity to build on our leadership in living evidence to further our understanding of the living evidence model and create mechanisms that enable translation of living evidence into evidence-informed policy. A national research agenda that is achieved through collaboration may strengthen not only the evidence-into-policy architecture in Australia but also enable Australia to lead this field internationally. Living evidence is a framework for building and maintaining a current and rigorous synthesis of knowledge within a scientific area. The NSW Health Clinical Intelligence Unit, which sits within the Clinical Innovation and Research Division at the Ministry of Health, has living evidence tables and uses the approach for Horizon Scanning, thus helping the NSW health system to prepare for opportunities to harness advances emerging from health research and innovation. Read a paper written in collaboration between Kim Sutherland, The Office for Health and Medical Research's Executive Director, Samantha Chakraborty, Alex Collie, Sally Green and Tari Turner from Monash University, Rebecca Hodder and Luke Wolfenden from University of Newcastle, Suman Majumdar and Joshua Vogel from Burnet Institute, Bernie Towler from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, and Andrew Wilson from University of Sydney. They believe there is an opportunity to realise the substantial benefits of living evidence for health systems, and to lead this field internationally by encouraging living evidence use in health policy and establishing an Australian research agenda to understand and advance living evidence for policy. Denmark should be at the forefront when it comes to global health. This is the foundation of the newly established Alliance for Global Health, which now gathers Danish and international experts in a dedicated expert group. From the Danish Institute for Human Rights, Steven Jensen, PhD and Senior Researcher, contributes. Jensen has spent two decades working in various capacities related to global health, and as a researcher he is specialised in global health and human rights. By bringing together expertise from several different sectors and including the latest research and evidence, the expert group will identify opportunities and areas where Denmark can make a significant difference on the global stage and position itself as a nation that can lead the way towards stronger commitments and achievements in the field of global health (and beyond). I wear three hats professionally focused on clinical science, health systems, and education. The interplay of these roles gives me a unique perspective of health care transformation especially for persons with cancer.
What do Filipino physicians think about Philhealth? Our study shows overall dissatisfaction among Filipino physicians with the current PhilHealth coverage and processes, suggesting that improvements are needed. This is consistent with the study done by Dr. Paterno's team in UP Manila in 2006 (18 years ago) that also showed overall disatisfaction. Still a lot work to be done. Hopefully, this inspires students to do health systems work in the future. Together, we can DOH this! 🙏 Extremely proud of these students for completing and publishing this study. 💚 Link to full paper: https://lnkd.in/gYMHNWQF #Animo #LasallianMD #ToServeTheLastTheLostandTheLeast

I love joining conversations that bring us closer to living our Purpose of realizing the extraordinary power of everyday care. The main question is how we practice everyday care and understand the role of self-care in people’s lives and the health systems of our region. Last week, while attending a panel discussion about the role of self-care in improving and supporting the sustainability of health systems organized by Americas Society/Council of the Americas, it was clear how self-care is essential not only for personal health but also for productivity and societal well-being. Did you know that in countries like Brazil, self-care can increase productivity by more than 4 days a year? This includes making rational use of health products and services, engaging in physical activity, eating healthily, and maintaining good hygiene. During the panel, Deputada Fedral Flavia Morais, Federal Deputy, Chamber of Deputies of Brazil, stated that "Society must understand that quality of life also depends on individual actions and habits. Therefore, promoting self-care is a duty of public authorities." Reflecting on these ideas during #InternationalSelfCareMonth, it's clear that our mission at Kenvue is more relevant than ever: promoting an approach to daily care that improves health and enriches people's everyday lives by always putting them first. 💪🏼 And even better when we do all of that with the ones we love...in the picture getting ready for one more race with my daughter Giovana Lukower #WeAreKenvue
