🇹🇷💪 Turkey has launched an ambitious program aimed at developing a layered air defense system that rivals Israel’s famed Iron Dome. Called the “Steel Dome,” the system will reportedly feature artificial intelligence to detect and neutralize threats from all altitudes and ranges. It will also enable the seamless integration of sensors and weapons into a single network to form an all-weather “security umbrella,” according to a statement from the Presidency of Defense Industries. #military #army #defense #defence #defenseindustry #defenceindustry #defensetech #defencetech #militarytech #technology #innovation #turkey #airdefense #airdefence

Israel's Iron Dome benefits from years of experience in air defense, with ongoing improvements and real-world combat testing that have refined its capabilities. This long history ensures a mature, reliable system that has been continuously adapted to counter evolving threats, making it a trusted choice for many nations. In contrast, Turkey's Steel Dome is in the early stages of development, representing a new entrant in the air defense market. While it aims to provide similar protection at a lower cost, it lacks the extensive operational history of the Iron Dome. Turkey is just beginning to establish itself in this domain, and the Steel Dome will need to demonstrate its effectiveness over time to build the same level of trust and credibility that Israel’s system has earned through decades of deployment and enhancement.

Israel Iron Dome widely recognize system leads in market presence and technological maturity, while Turkish Steel Dome system offers a budget-friendly option with potential in cost-sensitive regions.

And since the State has aligned with a "Provider" of Russian Tech . . . how much sharing will go on with the Provider, and other "customers" of the Provider? If they are intending on "integrating" the systems (Russian, US, and EU)? Where with NATO stand on creating windows into the systems across the alliance?

Turkey economy is in miserable condition and Lira currency is continuing the depreciation. They should address their economy instead of their ambitious defense program.

It's a beautiful picture, but it's not clear how it's effective compared to Israel's famous Iron Dome system.
