Poland and India present two paths in the global struggle against far-right politics. Poland's opposition successfully rebuilt itself and ousted the ruling far-right party in the 2023 elections by mobilizing youth and promising to reverse democratic erosion. Meanwhile, India’s opposition coalition has struggled to gain traction against Prime Minister Modi's authoritarian policies, leading to another victory for Modi in the 2024 elections. With Poland on a path to recovery and India facing ongoing democratic challenges, Kalia Hall explores what each country's experience reveals about the fight for democracy and how successful their recovery efforts are in reversing backsliding. Yes, Strata turned 3, but we must do our duty and that is the biggest celebration of the nation - our democracy - the right and duty to vote. In the first phase, 88 constituencies within 13 states and union territories will be voting. As responsible citizens of India, let us cast our vote to elect our representative. The youth and first-time voters, as representatives of the country's future, must exercise their right to vote to ensure the development of the country and fulfil their duty towards the nation. To become an informed citizen, active political participation is needed. Your vote matters, your voice matters, and voting is a powerful tool to make it heard. *The Lok Sabha Elections* have not only been a political milestone but also a profound testament to the strength of our democracy. Amidst the fervor of campaigns and the anticipation of results, one thing stands out clear – the power of choice and the resilience of our democratic institutions. The BJP's victory securing 240 seats might seem like a triumph on the surface, but the essence of democracy lies beyond mere numbers. In a democracy, every voice matters, and every seat won or lost reflects the diverse tapestry of opinions within our society. Interestingly, the Congress's attainment of 99 seats is not merely a numerical outcome; it signifies resurgence, a rallying call for accountability and representation. It is a beacon of hope for those who believe in the essence of opposition, the vital force that keeps the ruling party in check and ensures the balance of power. These elections are a poignant reminder to those who doubted the strength of our democracy, who feared a descent into authoritarianism or a loss of freedom. Instead, we have showcased the true spirit of democracy – the power of choice, the vibrancy of debate, and the significance of a strong opposition. Let us celebrate not just the winners, but the very essence of democracy itself. Let us cherish the diversity of opinions, the clash of ideologies, and the freedom to dissent. For in these differences lie the essence of our collective progress, and in our democracy, lies our greatest strength. #Democracy #ElectionResults #Opposition #Choice #PowerOfDemocracy #FreedomOfSpeech #IndiaElections

The ruling People Power Party (PPP) has a slight lead over the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) in the race for the April 10 general elections, according to a poll by The Korea Times. The newly established party, led by former Justice Minister Cho Kuk, is causing a stir in the political landscape and is trailing behind the DPK for proportional representation, eroding the main opposition's support base. The ruling conservative party is widening the gap amid critical infighting within the liberal main opposition party over candidate selection. There is a notable rise in the National Innovation Party's support in proportional representation polls, attributed to voters critical of the Yoon administration but disappointed by the DPK. #AsiaOperations #PoliticsandElections #SouthKorea Follow us for daily updates on risk and operations in Asia! https://lnkd.in/g4JRiaeu

The sine qua non for a true democracy is the holding of fair and free elections of the peoples' representatives to the legislative bodies. ‘India that is Bharat’ vowed to be a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic on January 26, 1950. The Election Commission was formally constituted a day before, on January 25, 1950. Since 2011, this day is celebrated as National Voter’s Day with the intention to nudge people to cast their vote. Voter turnout increased from ~55.9% in the 1991 Lok Sabha Elections to ~69.43% in 2019—a significant increase given the demographic density of the world’s most populous country. On the 13th National Voter’s Day, take the pledge to vote, because the right to vote is a privileged responsibility that only ~14.4% of nations worldwide enjoy. ~35.3% of the world's countries are led by authoritative regimes, in the true sense of the phrase. Let's choose to look at a glass as half full rather than half empty! #NVD2024 #election2024 #votingmatters #votewisely #voter

World Economies now opt for hung partliament option, better than having full mandate one. Because it keeps Parliament on toes to be able to make decisions with consensus than solely in the interest of Public. And ofcourse with having medium to highly strong Opposition can intervene in case as well. And West seeing, this as a democratic model for developing economies. They encounter same within too. Two world biggest democracies elections due this year end and it seem to be having hung parliament too. #hungparliament #worldeconomies #publicinterest #electionyear

Elections in India, South Africa and two EU countries of France and Germany. A world where Democracy is tested with different ideologies of Unipolar world and Multipolar world. What do we learn from these processes of elections happening in both in EU/Western Countries and BRICS/Developing Countries. I learnt that Democracy enables communities to popularize their ideas as alternative in bringing positive change in situation where unpopular ideas are prevailing in a society or in a country. it also indicates that not everything leaders do to their citizens in a country are okay to everybody. This gives me to learn that being a leader should not make us to get drunk and miss use power for benefit of few in the country. That is why this week in India, South Africa, France and Germany, leaders and their parties are talking about collaboration in order to create Governments of representation. This is happening both in the EU countries and BRICS countries. " Leaders, can you style up to make our countries do what is peaceful and stable to their citizens.
