At last week's #AspenCyber Summit, Craig Newmark announced a game-changing investment from Craig Newmark Philanthropies (CNP) of $100 million toward initiatives aimed at hardening critical U.S. infrastructure left dangerously vulnerable to cyberattacks. This investment is part of Newmark’s larger #CyberCivilDefense Initiative, which seeks to build a whole-of-society response to our growing cybersecurity challenges. The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics has experienced exponential growth, in no small part, thanks to the early and ongoing support from Craig and CNP. A new report from Michael R.azeeq and New America spotlights how states are establishing Civilian Cyber Corps (C3s) — organizations that facilitate cyber volunteer services — to help address cyber workforce challenges, improve their cyber resiliency, and develop cyber emergency response capabilities across the country. Michael's report references how university cybersecurity clinics like those in The Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics as well as other cyber volunteer efforts coordinated by nonprofits like CyberPeace Institute are taking a "whole-of-society approach" to cybersecurity.
