This is how you find your tribe... Join a group that aligns with your interests. AFCEA DC was the first organization to reach out. Share your thoughts with others and don't be afraid to try something new. Volunteer for a cause that matters to you. Both Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) and Girl Security are great examples of organizations working to create opportunities for others. Attend social events. Billington CyberSecurity, Intelligence and National Security Alliance, AFCEA International, and many more events are held to share insight in the area of national security. Make the first move. Work towards creating an environment for change. I'm fortunate that Georgetown University created the opportunity for me to teach and build the bench for the next generation. Use social media, but don't rely on it. There are plenty of ways to connect, especially on LinkedIn, but your tribe grows even stronger with in person discussions. Lastly, don't be too harsh on others. We are all out there trying to make a difference. Be the change you wish to see in the world.
