"Inside Out 2" has become the first movie of 2024 to top $1 billion at the global box office, achieving this milestone just 19 days after its release. The Pixar sequel has set a new record as the fastest animated film to reach this figure. Tony Chambers, Disney’s executive vice president of theatrical distribution, expressed his excitement over the film’s success, attributing it to Pixar's creativity and the power of great storytelling. The film’s release on June 16 has significantly boosted the 2024 box office, which had been trailing 2023's performance by over 25%. According to Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, the success of "Inside Out 2" has reduced the year-over-year domestic box office revenue deficit from 27% to 19%. "Inside Out 2" is now the highest-grossing film of the year and the first to pass $1 billion since "Barbie" in July of the previous year. It joins an elite group of Disney and Pixar films that have crossed the billion-dollar mark, including "The Incredibles 2," "Finding Dory," "Frozen," and "Toy Story" sequels.
