At our upcoming workshop on 23rd May, our main speaker, Peter Knight, professor of American Studies at the University of Manchester, will be joined by the first of our panellists, David Booth, FStratPS, Director, IXQ Consulting Limited. David has been helping organisations develop and implement their strategies for over 25 years, working with some of the UK’s leading organisations from the NHS to major financial institutions. David’s book, ‘Strategy Journeys – a Guide to Effective Strategic Planning’ was published in 2017 and shortlisted for the Chartered Management Institute Management Book of the Year 2018. We asked David why this topic is, arguably now more than ever, relevant in today's business environment: ‘ This is a very topical subject: after the past four years we are all increasingly aware just how uncertain the future is, and the limits of information to help us make decisions accordingly. This affects organisations as well as individuals, as they struggle to work through how to incorporate this into their strategising. I’m looking forward to what promises to be a very stimulating discussion!’ Find our more about the event and register here https://lnkd.in/dY3T_spR #behaviouraleconomics #decisionmaking #emotionaleconomics #imaginedfutures #techfutures #managementconsulting

How to Be Intensely Human: Lessons in Leadership and Humanity in the Age of AI What a fantastic time to announce that I have just completed the HR Strategy Executive Programme at London Business School, especially after the Financial Times recently ranked it among the top three business schools in Europe! A transformative aspect of the programme was the incorporation of philosophical thinking into HR leadership. Professor Jules Goddard guided us through deep, personal questions that challenged us to think about the essence of our roles and purpose: Who was I meant to be? What has my name on it? Who have I chosen to be? What happened to make me who I am and to be doing what I do? These reflections, paired with his wisdom that “It is better to do the right thing wrong than the wrong thing right,” encouraged us to lead with authenticity and purpose. “Not everything that can be counted counts. Not everything that counts can be counted.” This powerful insight, shared during a session with Professor Isabel Fernandez-Mateo, underscores the critical role of AI and data in today’s world while reminding us that true value also lies beyond metrics and systems. It calls us to focus on what truly matters—cultivating authentic relationships, leading with purpose, and fostering a legacy rooted in trust, empathy, and compassion. In a world driven by numbers, it’s these human elements that create lasting impact. Professor Lynda Gratton’s teachings added another layer of depth, as she spoke about “weaving our lives.” As we navigate our careers and lives, she asked us to consider, “What is our promise to our future self?” This concept of weaving—building a life where our actions today align with the aspirations of tomorrow—was a grounding and motivating idea that has shaped my approach to HR leadership. These lessons have been a powerful reminder that, at the core of everything, we are all human. In the rush of daily life and the pressures of success, it’s easy to forget that how we live our lives truly matters. The choices we make, the kindness we show, and the integrity we uphold are the threads that weave our legacy. #Londonbusinessschool #AccessBankUK #Thankyou

🚀 A Day of Inspiration and Insight — My First International Conference Experience Today marks a milestone in my professional journey! I am thrilled to share my experience attending my first-ever International Conference on "Emerging Innovations and Trends in the Global Supply Chain". The event was an incredible journey of learning, inspiration, and collaboration! The conference was graced by renowned international speakers who delivered thought-provoking sessions that challenged conventional ideas and opened new perspectives. They emphasized: 🌱 Lifelong Learning: A call to continually seek knowledge and adapt to evolving global challenges. 💡 Fostering Innovation: Harnessing technology to revolutionize supply chain efficiency and sustainability. 🤝 Thriving Through Collaboration: How partnerships across industries and geographies drive innovation and resilience in supply chains. One of the standout aspects was how the speakers professionally explained the entire supply chain and logistics journey — from "Origin" to "Consumption" — with exceptional clarity and insights into each stage’s significance, challenges, and innovations. This remarkable event served as a platform for knowledge exchange and global insights, enriching both the academic and professional journeys of everyone present. It reminded me of the power of shared knowledge and the importance of being future-ready in a dynamic world. I am grateful to the panellists for sharing their expertise and wisdom: 🔗 Shantanu Bhadkamkar 🔗Danielle Hansen, MBA, LSSBB, CPSM 🔗 King Mukherjee 🔗 Jon Armajani 🔗 Swati Mujumdar 🔗 Raghavan Santhanam CPSM, ITIL, CSM, CCP A heartfelt thank you to King Mukherjee Sir for personally inviting me to this remarkable conference. Congratulations to Sertan Kabadayi, Ph.D., Joseph Keating SJ Distinguished Professor in Business, Professor of Marketing, Director of the Professional M.B.A. Program, and Director of Teaching Excellence, on his paper “A dignity-vulnerability approach framework to maximize well-being outcomes by transformative service initiatives (TSIs)," which was co-authored with Reut Live-Tarandach, Ph.D., Associate Professor Management & Marketing, Manhattan College; and Michael Pirson, Ph.D., Professor, Area Chair of Leading People and Organizations, and James A. F. Stoner Endowed Chair in Global Sustainability. The paper received the 2024 Outstanding Paper Award from the Journal of Services Marketing, one of the major journals in the service field. It proposes a framework using approach to vulnerability (strength vs deficit based) and dignity (ignored vs respected) and offers pathways for service organizations to improve effectiveness of their Transformative Service Initiatives. It also is one of the first service papers that explicitly talks about human dignity. Read the paper here: https://bit.ly/4egqUy2

We’ve all been under incredible pressure lately. For much of last year, the higher education industry was on the defense, carefully placing small investments and making incremental progress. We all know it’s not enough. The industry is crying out for bold, breakthrough work. But bold work requires risk — and risk tolerance is at rock bottom right now. Our prediction for 2025: It’s the year that higher ed fights back. Doug Edwards, our chief strategy officer, expands on that idea in our latest post. Check it out here: https://ologie.co/40ldADE

We've all seen what happens when strategic plans are developed within our institutional bubbles based on intuition rather than information. This is an excellent read from my brilliant colleagues Jamie Ceman and Kevin Swartout about the role research should (and must) play in setting the groundwork for a strategic planning process that aligns with current and future institutional needs. And it all starts with two kinds of analysis: Market research and brand perception testing. Data galvanized into evidence: That's a foundation for next-level strategic planning. Research --> Strategy --> Action.
Leveraging a data-informed, evidence-based strategic planning process empowers an institution to blaze a path in alignment with its organizational priorities while setting feasible goals to increase its standing in a competitive market. In our most recent blog, Jamie Ceman and Kevin Swartout discuss how colleges and universities can incorporate brand perception and market research to ensure they meet the needs of their stakeholders and achieve long-term success. "The ordinary citizen needs the critical thinking skills of a person able to probe the evidential grounds for belief, a person who is swayed not by appeals to fear, prejudice, or ego but rather by the weight of evidence and reason, who is capable of suspending his judgment until such reasonable grounds for beliefs are forthcoming; a person eager to hear reasons and evidence against his or her beliefs if they become available, and to modify his or her views in accordance with them." ~Dr. Richard Paul in "Critical Thinking, Human Development, and Rational Productivity" (1985) The 44th Annual International Conference on Critical Thinking is underway! The Pre-Conference is now in session, while the Main Conference begins tomorrow and is still accepting new registrants. https://lnkd.in/eWpDZaET
