New on our Substack: GFI’s legislative director Pepin Tuma sat down with Justin Kolbeck, a former U.S. Foreign Service Officer who founded cultivated seafood startup Wildtype, for an in-depth discussion about the connection between food security and national security and the potential for cultivated meat + seafood to enhance both. "The United States has long been the world leader in agriculture research, including cultivated meat breakthroughs, yet we are at risk of falling behind without substantial investment and governmental support." 📣 The European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability (ERBS) aligns stakeholders across Europe on a common set of outcome targets, to drive progress in a collective and collaborative way. 🌍 It is important that our work at a European level also feeds into the global beef community. To support this, the ERBS are proud members of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB), and we are excited to share the upcoming Global Conference on Sustainable Beef, taking place between 30th September and 3rd October in Punta del Este, Uruguay. #GRSB #BeefSustainability #PeoplePoweredAgriculture

📣 There is no one size fits all solution for beef sustainability. It’s about working together towards aligned priorities but leaning into a deep understanding of the local context and adapting the “how” to what fits best locally. 🌍 This is the essential role played by the six Platforms across the countries engaged in the European Roundtable for Beef Sustainability (ERBS). By aligning stakeholders behind a common set of targets and combining efforts to reduce duplication, these Platforms are working towards delivering measurable positive impacts and continuous improvement towards key beef European sustainability priorities. 🐄 In the UK, it’s the UK Cattle Sustainability Platform (UKCSP) that has been the driving force behind this since 2019. At the ERBS, we are delighted to welcome Julie Finch of Kepak Group as the new Chair of the UK Cattle Sustainability Platform, and John Royle of the NFU (National Farmers' Union) as the new Vice Chair. 🤠Our massive thanks go to the previous Chair Sarah Haire of Dawn Meats and Vice Chair Karl Williams of FAI as retiring Chair and Vice Chair, who were instrumental in establishing the UKCSP and guiding it through its first 5 years. #erbs #BeefSustainability Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB)

🔴Discover our #COCOREADOAmbassadors🔴 Peter Schön➡️Farmers' Markets, an old concept for the future 🥕🍏Like every Saturday morning, COCOREADO Ambassador Peter Schön visits the local farmers market of Oberwart (A). Farmers markets have been around for centuries but their importance decreased drastically with the rise of supermarkets. Nowadays in many rural and urban areas, they are rarely found and often the products are offered at a high price. Originally farmers' markets are meant to provide the daily necessities for people, by the farmer to the consumer, directly! This allows for exchange between both parties about the range and quality of products and the pricing. Ultimately this helps build trust and guarantees the farmer receives a fair price. The market in the video is located in a south-eastern Austrian town, near the Hungarian border, and is a wonderful example of a vibrant farmers market in the 21st century. This age-old concept is a feasible strategy for future food systems, among many other ideas COCOREADO is investigating. https://lnkd.in/dFDXqiHT
