Fun Fact - Advice from Industry Professionals I asked these lovely ladies that work with Seniors their advice on finding the right community. When you walk in, how are you greeted ? Are the seniors happy ? What kind of Vibe do you get ? Do not use the F word - it is NOT a facility, it's a community 💗 Don't wait till crisis hits, plan ahead, look ahead with me ( Elder Placements) Know what to expect for prices. Never say " I am never going into one of those places " . Have you seen how nice they are? It's not your grandparents convalescent center .. "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail." Yesterday, I enjoyed a day off work with my partner, spending quality time at Warwick Castle without the kids. It had been at least a year since we had a kid free day. We had a lovely day relaxing, chatting, and engaging with the staff to learn more about the history of the castle. Taking this break from the usual routine left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It was a much-needed respite from the daily grind of work, childcare, and responsibilities. Today, I feel energized and more centred, realising the importance of dedicating time for self-care. Don't hesitate to carve out moments for yourself; it truly benefits your well-being in ways you might not expect. Self-care isn't selfish; it's a vital investment in your future self. Sharing moments like these with loved ones can enhance relationships and create lasting memories. I recommend exploring places like Warwick Castle and immersing yourself in the history and beauty it offers. Below is a picture of the Falconers quest which I highly recommend! It's a reminder to prioritize self-care and cherish meaningful experiences with those dear to you. #selfcare #qualitytime #wellbeing

Do you ever think, "I should really talk to my mom about her driving." Or "I'm starting to worry my parents can't keep up their house." Or "I'm wondering if my dad should move to assisted living." These 4 tips are a great guide to starting the conversation about change! Step 1: Get organized. Do you have research to share on Senior living? Do you have recent driving situations that were a concern, get those organized. Step 2: Start the conversation with an open ended question. I love starting with, "I've been thinking about X, how do you feel about X?" Step 3: LISTEN This is the most important step, and one we often overlook. We have to listen to their thoughts and beliefs. Get ready to nod your head, make eye contact or even say, "mmmm yeah..." Step 4: Ask permission. This is a commonly over looked step. When we ask permission to share our thoughts our ideas, it helps keep them in control of the conversation. This can sound like this. "I've done some research on Senior Living, for my own education. Would you be open to me sharing what I've learned?" Aging and change can be hard, emotionally. Our goal here at Empowered Senior Living Solutions is to help all parties feel more at ease with having some real conversations about change. #seniorliving #seniorhousing #assistedliving #independentliving #change #changemanagement #agingadults #navigatingchange #aging #seniorcitizen #navigatingchange #retirementcommunities #caringforseniorcitizens #agingparents #agingparentssupport

It’s important to ensure that even within the context of #Duchenne / #Becker , kids are doing things that kids should be doing, adults are doing things that adults should be doing, and families can lead the lives they want to lead. Together with PPMD, your community, and your care team, it’s all about figuring out how we can make that happen. Panel sessions during PPMD’s 30th Annual Conference last month dove into topics such as social experiences, relationships, activities and hobbies, and even home modifications as ways to enhance quality of life for those living with Duchenne/Becker and their families. Check out the recordings of these sessions, as well as helpful resources, here: https://lnkd.in/eKsiaab4
