The American Institute of Architects (AIA)’s Post

Be your authentic self 🏳️🌈 While #PrideMonth is ending, we had a full schedule of sessions and events at #AIA24 related to the LGTBQIA+ community and how to best support their needs as designers and community members. At Pride Happy Hour at AIA24, we asked attendees, “What does being out in architecture mean to you?” This question was inspired by the book “Out in Architecture,” 📕 which is dedicated to bringing visibility to LGBTQIA+ architects + designers, propelling conversation into institutional change. Love seeing our community being represented and celebrated by AIA National - it’s been at lot of conversations and advocacy work to get us to this place. It’s so important for all of us to feel supported by our professional organization and our workplaces. Visibility and conversations are critical for more LGBTQIA+ architects and designers to feel safe and supported. I am grateful to my colleagues who have worked to make this a reality and look forward to more visibility, storytelling and discussions as we continue forward together. #pride #aia #lgbtqia

Yes! It's so important that everyone can be themselves no matter where!
