As we immerse ourselves in technology and innovation, it's essential to reconnect with the simple, yet profound elements that sustain us—like water. Aadi Perukku, an ancient Tamil festival celebrated in India for over two millennia, reminds us of this truth. This year, it fell on last Saturday, as people placed offerings along the river banks, honouring water as the true elixir of life.
Water has always been at the heart of human civilisation, nurturing our societies and enabling our growth. From the banks of the Nile to the Indus, rivers have been cradles of life. Yet, in regions where water is abundant, we often take it for granted. Festivals like Aadi Perukku serve as a crucial reminder of our dependence on this invaluable resource and our duty to protect it.
Let's give Aadi Perukku the recognition it deserves, celebrating its rich history and highlighting its environmental significance. In an era of climate change and water scarcity, this festival isn't just a cultural event—it's a call to action. 🌱💧
Let's remember to cherish and safeguard our natural resources, ensuring they flow generously for generations to come.

Temples not only act as a Cultural Heritage but also carry values, beliefs, art forms traditions that people have followed for generations. Preserving tangible cultural assets will not only add value for future generations, but also boost employment, generate revenue for the local communities, increase awareness and connect past legacies, beliefs & ideologies with current generations. Great point by Sudha Murty Madam.

"In India, we have 42 World Heritage Sites, but 57 are pending ... we should focus on those 57 sites," Murthy said. She praised the marvelous temples in Srirangam and noted that the 2,500-year-old monuments in Sarnath are still not recognized as World Heritage Sites. Murthy also mentioned that the design of the old Parliament Building was inspired by the ancient Chausath Yogini Temple in Mitawali, Madhya Pradesh.
