Addressing moral distress is key to reducing avoidable harm in health care settings. The HSO Workforce Survey™ revealed that 33% of health care staff feel burned out from their work one or more times a month. https://hubs.la/Q02VV02T0 By understanding these challenges, we can work together—health care providers and patients alike—to create psychologically safe environments that support both staff well-being and patient safety #CPSW2024 #PatientSafety #UnderstandHarm

In today's #healthservicesdaily, I've outlined five potential solutions that Commonwealth and State governments can implement to unlock the true potential of PHNs: 1. Align PHNs and partners into defined health and wellbeing systems; 2. Rebalance power imbalances at the state level; 3. Mandate joint regional needs assessments; 4. Mandate joint health and wellbeing strategies and plans; and 5. Give PHNs greater autonomy to address local needs. In my view, Commonwealth and state governments should unite, create meaningful regional integration at the local and state levels and empower PHNs to do the jobs they were designed for. By unshackling PHNs, they will unlock PHNs’ true potential to advance regional commissioning, drive improvements in the outcomes that matter for communities and address local inequities. I welcome other people's reflections on these ideas, which are aimed at stimulating conversation and debate. I'll post a link to the full article on our website tomorrow. In the meantime, you can read the article behind the #hsd paywall. PS Whilst I didn't get to choose the cartoon or the headline, the rest is all my own work :-) #primaryhealthnetworks #PHN #commissioning #integration #outcomes #equity Jeremy Knibbs Wendy John Michelle O'Brien https://lnkd.in/gJ7AZnQR
