Your interests are not distractions, says actor-producer Yara Shahidi — they’re possibilities. Here’s her challenge to let your curiosities lead you to new futures: http://t.ted.com/Qw4fcD9

Yara Shahidi's perspective is refreshing and empowering. Recognizing our interests as possibilities rather than distractions challenges societal norms that often box individuals into singular paths. Embracing diverse interests can lead to innovation, creativity, and personal fulfillment. How can we encourage a culture that values exploration and multidimensional growth rather than conformity to narrow expectations? #EmbraceYourInterests #PossibilitiesNotDistractions #YaraShahidi

Totally agree. We have been marionets since 2000 on what to believe despite our curiosity to investigate for ourselves. To act on it, is outside of polite society.

Your distractions are actually a valuable tool for creativity. Apparently Nobel Prize winning scientists are 2.85 times more likely to have an artistic hobby compared to other scientists, and being a performer of some kind makes them 22 times more likely to be awarded a Nobel prize.

If curiosity leads to creativity then that may be why Ghana or Africans are lagging behind the in World in terms of creativity. Because our parents use to beat us and preventing us from being curious. Incredible, they even have a saying that curiosity kills the cat, trying to scare us that if we become curious we may fall in trouble or yet die. The current generation of Ghanaian or African parents need a reset to build a curious and creative next generation.

So true! Curiosity creates the condition of possibility for us to grow. When we are certain about something, there is not a lot of room for wonder.  Curiosity always leads to opportunity. Being curious pushes us toward uncertainty and allows us to approach new challenges with a growth mindset!

Embracing possibilities opens the door to new opportunities by fostering a mindset of growth and adaptability. It encourages individuals to step out of their comfort zones, explore uncharted territories, and leverage their unique strengths, leading to personal and professional development.

This is great advice - become a kid again! Kids are so curious, and so creative. The moment curiosity is gone, we become stagnant.
