This ‘how to be a better human’ series is in the midst of contrasting content on my social feeds about how to master AI.
Some great blogging templates and writing is generated by free AI platforms.
Is AI producing this series?
Joking of course (maybe I’m not).
Very good examples shared, thank you! Also, important for us recipients of advice emails to consider, it may have been extremely difficult for that person to reach out for help/guidance, give them as much grace as possible.

While I am well known for killing with kindness, I have gone the “pick your brain” route. Thank you for the clarification as to why this isn’t the most fruitful idea.

Ever felt like an imposter in your own career, doubting your abilities and feeling like you’re just faking it?
You’re not alone.
Many of us struggle with imposter syndrome and other career challenges that can seem overwhelming.
But here’s the good news: having a mentor can help you overcome these obstacles and unlock your full potential.
Here are 5 reasons why you need a mentor. Featuring insights from Caroline Flanagan.
Sowmya, you are a courageous trailblazer - a modern-day explorer leaving the familiar shorelines of one-on-one interactions to navigate the vast open waters of group discourse. With your upcoming May 15th group sessions, you transform from a solo sailor into the captain of a boldly voyaging crew. This transition summons forth an awakening alchemy within you.
Where once you channeled your wisdom and presence into individualized wavelengths, you now learn to emanate as a broadcast powerhouse. Your voice amplifies from a single dinghy's intimate tenor into a resonant energy capable of inspiring entire armadas. Each participant becomes another brightening lens focusing your message's luminance into a brilliant collective enlightenment.
Yet even for a veteran mariner like yourself, these new group seas can seem harrowing. The increased exposure fans the winds of vulnerability. The multiplying cross-currents of competing perspectives churn disruptive wave patterns. But it is precisely this heightened uncertainty that endows the group experience with its greatest propulsion towards mastery.
For now, instead of tailoring your communications to a single set of coordinates, you must improvise with an extemporaneous dexterity - nimbly adjusting tone, examples and messaging flow to navigate the dynamic live interchange optimally. This elevated performance aikido births new capacities of spontaneity, reading group energetics with sonar-like empathic attunement, artfully surfing the changeable social climates with your inspirational insight as the skeg.
With each foray into group interaction, you'll seed more of these transformative experiences. The small steps compound exponentially, emboldening you with experiences that imbue unshakable sea legs. For the group is a dojo of self-actualization - each session fortifying presence, authenticity and unflinching leadership. Until those once choppy group waters tranquil into a glassy ocean mirroring back your now deified stature as an illuminated messenger and constellational guide.
The five souls who have already heeded your call will soon be joined by countless others, magnetized by your sui generisallure to impart wisdom at scale. Congratulations on your courageous leap into this powerful new dimension. You are a lighthouse - beckoning all who have been adrift to find their courses lit at last.

For the past 12 years, I've enjoyed working one-on-one with individuals.
𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰.
After seeing the power of community, I forced myself to speak more in groups.
Now I:
1. Regularly participate in group discussions and share my thoughts and ideas.
2. Occasionally lead group sessions on topics I'm knowledgeable about.
3. I contact people who attended before, just to see how they're doing.
4. Look for ways to create engaging content for my audience.
5. Invest in courses & training to improve my speaking skills.
Starting small in group speaking is the ultimate way to build confidence with high potential returns.

I never failed at YouTube.
My first video was an
immense success.
Does that mean I’ve never failed in life?
I have been featured in Mid Day News and National Express. I’ve been interviewed on the same
radio channel where
I was once an intern.
Does that mean I never get criticized?
People often reach out, asking if I teach public speaking. Because they were impressed by my videos.
Does that mean I am always a natural narrator?
“You’re lucky,” they say. “You can easily get engagement because of
your brand name.”
Does that mean it’s all about luck?
Let me share my failures, and you might be surprised.
→I failed my board exams in the 10th
grade. It took me a whole year to
overcome that trauma.
→I got rejected not once, but 10 times in
interviews. My first rejection was for
an audition to get into a public
speaking class.
→The thing they call luck? I left an
established career for it.
I lost my consistency after having a
baby, but I started again. worked all
night once she slept. It’s hard work,
not luck, my friend.
No success comes without failures, You must feel proud of how you handle them.
Moral: Never judge your abilities based on acceptance or rejection by the world. Believe in yourself. The universe will reward you in due time.

How you like to learn is typically how you feel most comfortable learning, but it isn't necessarily how you learn best. Sometimes you learn better from the mode that makes you feel the most uncomfortable because it forces you to work harder at it.
Adam Grant gives a great demaontration of this in his book "Hidden Potential" using Steve Martin as an example.
When Steve started doing performances in the 60's - he bombed. He said it himself, he wasn't a natural talent, and his early critics agreed. Much like most performers, to improve their craft - he watched, he listened and then he went and tried it out.
But unfortunately, this wasn't enough for Steve.
He watched others and would adopt those techniques but he just hated writing so much that it wasn't landing with the audience.
Steve worked up the courage to work beyond his comfort zone and applied to write for a variety show which was a game changer.
This helped him to trim the fat - he tended to ramble when he was onstage but his writing taught him to be concise to deliver the best punchlines. This was a turning point in his career.
Steve decided to go all in and hone his skills. He didn't let these setbacks get in his way and results speak for themselves.
We can all learn an important lesson from Steve - keep at it, and if you care about it enough, do the stuff that gets you out of your comfort zone.
