How to get better candidates faster. To improve your hiring process and get better, faster results, ask each applicant how they found out about the position. It sounds basic but it’s oh so powerful! As a business owner, how many times have you stopped doing something that was working because you simply got busy and forgot about it? And you knew that if you kept doing stuff that was working to get you results, you'd keep getting more and better results right? So, find out how candidates are finding you and focus more time, money and effort on that recruiting channel. WARNING: sometimes you have to dig deep on this one. Most candidates will be lazy and say something like “Indeed”. When in reality it was a friend who told them about the job and they went to Indeed to apply. Or they saw the job on Facebook and then went to Indeed to apply. Let’s take the two examples from above. What would happen if you took the candidate at their word and started shoveling $5k - $6k per month into Indeed? You’d end up with very few decent candidates and a very expensive lesson. Bottom line… …find out what's working... ...and do more of that. Then set up SOP’s and accountability systems to make sure you and your team don’t forget. I know this process works because this is exactly how I built Technician Find over the last 6 years. This process will work for you too. #Jobs #Staffing #Employment #StaffingAgency #Repair #Auto #Hiring #Automotive #Mechanic #Technician #TechnicianFind #AutoRepair #AutoRepairShop

If you feel like a Micromanager in your shop... ...it's because you don't have RIGHT FIT EMPLOYEES. Wrong fit employees create more work for EVERYONE. They require more assistance from other employees and pull YOU into the business EVERY DAY to guide them in their tasks. In other words, bad hires turn great leaders into micromanagers. #Jobs #Staffing #Employment #StaffingAgency #Repair #Auto #Hiring #Automotive #Mechanic #Technician #TechnicianFind #AutoRepair #AutoRepairShop

“You’ll do great somewhere else.” Letting an employee go is never easy but it’s part of running a successful business. That’s why I love the phrase, “You’ll do great somewhere else.” I picked it up from a shop owner and it perfectly captures an effective mindset when letting someone go. It acknowledges that the individual has unique and valuable skills that will be a great asset to another business. It’s not a personal attack on the employee. It’s hopeful and positive. It helps you end on good terms and keeps the door open for future opportunities once the individual has grown or developed additional skills. Then you will have the quandary of the rehire. We’ll cover that on another day. #Jobs #Staffing #Employment #StaffingAgency #Repair #Auto #Hiring #Automotive #Mechanic #Technician #TechnicianFind #AutoRepair #AutoRepairShop

"Ever wonder why you can have ads out for weeks and not get any decent applications?🤔 It might not be about pay or location or even benefits. It's probably about TRUST. Here's the game-changer every shop owner should know about building rapid trust and credibility in their help wanted ads! First the truth: trust is hard to come by. I tell the story all the time in podcast interviews about the tech who told me that “every shop says the same things to get you to come on board and you never know what you are getting into till you go to work at the shop and by then it’s too late.” Guess what? Every tech that reads your help wanted ad is thinking the same thing. And techs that think you are full of B.S. don’t apply. And… Every missed application is a potential top-tier employee slipping through the cracks. It’s a bad situation for the technician too because it's a missed opportunity for them to finally find a reliable workplace that matches their culture and values. It’s loose, loose. I've seen incredible technicians skip out on great opportunities because they didn’t have enough information about the shop to trust the new environment. So, just do this… Add a link to your customer reviews in your job listing. This lets you showcase your credibility instantly! Online reviews have been proven again and again to be the most powerful source of third party proof and validation that a product or service is worth investing in. And it can work for your shop! Want to make sure that your repair shop stands out in the sea of job listings and has the clout to pull applications? Make trust-building effortless. Add a link to your top customer review platform in every one of your help-wanted ads from now on. You’ve spent years of blood, sweat and tears gaining those hard won reviews. Now it’s time to put them to work for you! Technicians deserve to know they're joining a reputable team. And you deserve to have A-players helping you to build your dream. Build that trust and watch that trust pave the way for top-tier talent to join your team. 🌟🔧 #Jobs #Staffing #Employment #StaffingAgency #Repair #Auto #Hiring #Automotive #Mechanic #Technician #TechnicianFind #AutoRepair #AutoRepairShop"
