I've got a bee in my bonnet about a common LinkedIn post... The ones where someone lists out all the things they want to stop hearing from their employees... you know the ones. My issue is, culture doesn't change from LinkedIn posts, culture changes from within. It takes time and effort internally and needs to come from the top. Your employees care about what happens daily, not what comes across their LI feed. So here's some things you will never overhear at NewGen 🤐 ⏰ "Can I leave early today?" We have flexi hours (and they actually work) 🌅 "I'll be late in the morning" See above 👶 "My child is sick can I rush off?" Our environment allows people to speak up and flag issues, and gives our employees the time and space they need for whatever is going on in their lives 🙅♂️ "That's not my job" We foster an environment of collaboration where everyone cares about a common goal 😭 "I can't do this" We help each other out, no one is alone in their task 🌴 "I don't have time to take my holiday" We have a use it or lose it holiday policy and a mandatory 2 week reseat every year, ensuring all employees take the time and space they need to recharge Sound good to you? We've got open roles! Link in the comments to apply 🤝 #openroles #culture

Hi #linkdinfamily Today, I want to share a personal experience that I believe many professionals may relate to, and perhaps, find valuable. A few months ago, I was thrilled to secure a remote job in the ed tech industry. However, as I carefully read the terms and conditions of the offer, one clause caught my attention: "If you leave the company for any reason, you will compensate the company." While I understand the importance of companies wanting to retain talent, the idea of compensating the company for choosing a different path raised questions in my mind. Employment is a two-way street – employers seek the best fit for their team, and employees seek an environment that aligns with their values and career goals. Every individual should have the freedom to make choices that benefit their personal and professional growth. A healthy work culture and mutual respect between employer and employee contribute significantly to long-term success. I chose to decline the offer, not out of a lack of commitment, but out of a belief that the best professional relationships are built on trust, understanding, and a shared commitment to growth. This experience has prompted me to reflect on the importance of transparency and fairness in the workplace. Both employers and employees need to communicate openly about expectations and foster an environment where everyone can thrive. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this matter. Have you encountered similar clauses in job offers? How can we promote a healthier dialogue between employers and employees? #careerreflections #professionaljourney #careerchoices #workculture #workplaceculture #workplacetransparency.

Recruit based on a candidate's passion and intelligence, not solely on their academic credentials. Prioritize work ethic and skills over industry-specific experience. Look for candidates with a sense of humor, a willingness to collaborate, and a positive attitude towards others, rather than just focusing on their familiarity with specific software. Seek those eager to learn, not just the ones relying on existing knowledge. Opt for candidates who value teamwork, show consideration for their colleagues, and go the extra mile for both coworkers and customers. Remember, work is a collective effort, not a solo endeavor. Employers who prioritize qualities such as character, class, kindness, and thoughtfulness create a workplace culture that attracts individuals genuinely invested in the company's mission, fostering a team of dedicated and caring professionals. #workplaceculture #workplaceculturematters #recruitertips #recruiting #hiresmart #hirebetter #careercoaching #antoniascareertips

Most people want to work for a great company like Graylog, but how do you know? For bigger companies, you can use websites like trueup{dot}io, LinkedIn, or Glassdoor to find out more about employee happiness. Interestingly, if a company has many open entry-level jobs but is relatively small, it is sometimes a bad sign, too. --> It may point to a high turnover rate. The best companies often hire few people because the turnover rate is very low. If a company does not grow... no open positions. Do you care about working for a good company, or do you just want a job? You may have to pick a non-traditional approach to get hired if you care about it.
