Some interesting data on the participating teams: - 3 teams without publicly verifiable data (2x Kazakhstan, 1x China). Out of the remaining 9 - 2 of them need an external female player in order to pass FIDE's requirement of having at least one female player on the team - 1 team's female player joined the company less than 2 weeks prior to the event 🤔 - 2 teams are from companies built around online Chess Coaching. For me, comparable to if the KS Chiefs would send a team to a corporate football event. - 1 team with questionable player to company association - 1 team with external GM ringer --> Only 3 companies with a fully internal player roster! Shoutout to Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and BlackRock! You can do better International Chess Federation! Also, out of the 6 Western company teams, 5 of them have one or multiple players on their team with a VP or Director title with the 6th one having a long history of sponsoring chess events. Makes sense given FIDE's high entry fee for the event combined with the fact that the majority of corporate sport teams (chess and non-chess related) are volunteer organized and do not receive much internal support for their efforts.
