The software industry plays a critical role in military technology, making secure software supply chains essential. Introducing Paranoid, a solution initially designed to support secure avionics software development for the Naval Aviation Enterprise, now available for commercialization. This innovation ensures full traceability and demonstrability in software development to prevent potential attacks. Private enterprises can access Paranoid through TechLink, the Department of Defense's national technology transfer partner, while the Navy offers collaborative opportunities through CRADAs for private developers. #SoftwareSecurity #Technology #DefenseSector #TechLink #Innovation https://lnkd.in/e6iDfY2N

I was excited to see Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET)’s case study on Project Maven because despite its notoriety, the program's story has largely gone untold. Emelia Probasco does it masterfully. Maven was the fulcrum of change for the DoD: It began in the “pre-software” era where we bought software like hardware. It transitioned in the “more modern software” era, as one of the first meaningful initiatives to bring in nontraditional companies and engage them differently. The key to the whole thing was an iterative, adaptive approach: Flexible contracting. New primes. Competition. The program is far from perfect, but it stands as a crucial example of defense modernization, and is an essential case study for anyone wishing to see how new capabilities might get developed, and deployed for America’s Armed Forces. Enjoy today's episode (link in comments) and share YOUR top lesson(s) from Maven!
