Marketing Consultant & Copywriter | Helping busy business leaders amplify their marketing, impact & sales
The Power of Marketing Collateral: Is It the Missing Link in Your Sales Strategy? In a world where 7 out of 10 sales presentations fail to meet the mark, the power of compelling marketing collateral is undeniable. Think about it -- sales teams are out there every day battling all sorts of challenges—heaps of competition, dwindling attention spans, and a whole lot of buyer skepticism. It's not easy, and without the right tools at their disposal, it's like sending your troops into battle without any armor. I feel like a broken record but...marketing collateral is much more than a fancy flyer, flashy website, or “making things look good”... It’s about creating materials that speak to your customers, solve their problems, and answers questions before they’ve even asked them. These materials are about providing sales teams with a trusty sidekick, a secret weapon that makes every interaction count so you can win in this crazy competitive world. 💭 What do you think? Is your sales strategy missing out on the power of compelling marketing collateral?

Marketing is such a broad term. When I tell people what I do, they often try to put a general marketing hat on it. So, I thought I should explain it here: My work in marketing isn't just one thing - it's a mix of many activities tailored to fit specific goals in the construction industry. I focus on developing a strong brand strategy and positioning, crafting tenders, refining brand messages, and rebranding when necessary to stay relevant. This means understanding what sets you apart and how to communicate that effectively. I also specialise in sales outreach through targeted email marketing campaigns to increase revenue. By identifying and reaching out to potential clients with personalised messages, I help businesses secure more contracts and build lasting relationships. I help my clients understand their unique value propositions, showcase completed projects, and leverage them to win more business. It’s about creating strategies that resonate with potential clients while maintaining strong, personal relationships to build trust and loyalty. In short, it's about blending traditional and newer approaches to effectively communicate their unique value and drive business growth. - - - - So, if you are a construction company or a subcontractor providing services and products to the industry - I would love to help you secure more business! Message and let’s chat! #MarketingStrategy #Construction #SalesStrategy

"Marketing teams are building a house...maybe you shouldn't have the plumbers build the roof." I work as a marketing consultant now, but I've also been a part of highly successful marketing teams in departments of large and small businesses. One thing I've learned that has separated great teams from good and even bad ones, is that everyone must understand they're a part of something bigger. You can't have one person or one team believing that: without them the whole company would fall apart. If you imagine the role of marketing in other industries then this becomes more obvious, try it. If the business were really building a house, then the marketers might be the plumbers. They play one part of the greater whole. You [probably] shouldn't have your plumbers pouring the foundation, building the roofing, doing the electrical, painting, decorating, and doing the plumbing. A better approach from my perspective is this: -Help everyone understand the real goal, the real reasons your business exists and what success looks like. It's probably not to have a great looking ad that wins awards but doesn't get the company any more sales. And it's also probably not to get people in the door if those people never buy anything. -Encourage and reward teamwork and joint outcomes. When you see people doing it right, hold that up as the example to others and praise them publicly for it. Tell your team that's what you want, encourage it, and you're likely to get more of it. -Let teams be the expert of their area and trust them. If the plumbers are talking about plumbing, trust them. Don't overmanage or overrule the people you hired to be experts about that specific thing. I've noticed that in business, some marketers feel like they really can do it all and they try to use their area of expertise to do it all too. Maybe this makes sense in your business, or maybe we all really need to learn to work more as part of a team - to accept that heroic work might be teamwork instead of solo contribution. Try this in your own job and see how much more effective you can be by working better together.

Digital marketing strategies can significantly impact small businesses. A recent analysis reveals that over 60% of plumbing and HVAC companies are missing out on opportunities simply due to a lack of online presence. This gap highlights the necessity for smaller firms to adapt to digital platforms to attract new customers and strengthen their brand. The implications are clear: companies that embrace digital marketing can not only reach a wider audience but also improve customer engagement and loyalty. Investing in these tools isn't just a trend—it's a vital step for survival in an increasingly competitive market. What do you think about the role of digital marketing in traditional industries? Let’s hear your insights. #DigitalMarketing #SmallBusiness #Plumbing #HVAC #CustomerEngagement https://lnkd.in/gPE89qwt

Here's the thing...no company, be they in roofing or property management, in fitness or travel, should (insert can) rely on just one marketing strategy. Different audiences, consuming different platforms, at different points in their buying journey, need to be communicated with on different ways. And (yes I started my sentence with And...come at me), just know that even though the deal started and maybe even closed on an ad, prospect probably has gone direct to your website more than once, consumed your blogs and your content offers, and your About page before deciding you could solve their problem. Our job as marketers is to know the when, the how and the why of it all. Then explain it to business owners who simply just want to see their business thrive.
