57% of adult prisoners have literacy levels below those expected of an 11-year-old. At PeoplePlus we take a tailored approach to learning - treating everyone as an individual. We have employed Reading & Neurodiversity Specialists to give additional support to our learners. In this short clip one of those Specialists, Nicky talks about this approach and shares a short memory of one learner in his 30's who couldn't read, but with our help, was able to pass his English exams. https://lnkd.in/euUhSjf7

When you follow the FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS of TEACHING, teachers start to move from stress and chaos to serenity and calm EVEN IF nothing else changes. "Because the way to achieve serenity and calm is to make teaching less about what we can't control and more about what we can." ~From The Path of the Mindful Teacher https://bit.ly/3Qawjwj

Are you an instructional leader or coach seeking to enhance culturally responsive teaching? Check out the attached rubric, a joint effort by our DEI Specialists Jessica Jones, Angela Spitzman, Renée Green , and myself. One column explores Culturally Responsive Practice broadly, while the other focuses specifically on neurodiversity. This tool encourages educators to expand their outlook beyond race and ethnicity when practicing CRP. Acknowledging the complexity of culture and identity, encompassing diverse categorizations, this resource aims to support CRP by considering the lens of neurodiversity. Share your feedback in the comments – Cheers.

I came across this powerful speech during my first module in my Med in inclusive education. It forced me to ponder over how i could improve my lesson planning, instructional strategies, individual scaffolding/modifications in my teaching at the students zone of proximal development (ZPD). As educators in general and as Inclusion teachers in particular we have to keep the students needs at the core of our teaching. My favourite quote from Ignacio Estrada summs ny approach to teaching. "If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn." https://lnkd.in/d-8xu4Fm
