Supporting social services & housing authorities to provide specialised hoarding support and cleaning, to improve safety & cleanliness. Biohazard & Hoarding Support trained.
Hoarding vs. Clutter: Understanding the Difference The term hoarder is often muddled with clutter, but they are quite different. Clutter is a collection of items that are disorganised, but can usually be tidied up with some effort. Hoarding, on the other hand, is excessive acquisition and difficulty in discarding possessions, regardless of their value, which leads to significant clutter that impedes on living spaces and has a negative impact on daily life. Some key differences include: 1️⃣ Volume - Clutter is typically limited and can be managed with regular cleaning. Hoarding involves an excessive accumulation of items, covering all surfaces, often filling entire rooms. 2️⃣ Attachment - People with clutter can generally discard items without significant distress. Hoarding involves strong emotional attachment, making it extremely difficult to part with possessions. 3️⃣ Impact on Life - Clutter might be a nuisance but doesn't usually interfere with daily functioning. Hoarding can impair social, personal, and occupational functioning, often creating unsafe living conditions. We are passionate about raising awareness of hoarding disorder and addressing these differences is important for recognising when someone might need support beyond just organising their space. #hoardercleanout #decluttering #hoarderhouse #hoarder #hoarderdisorder #declutter ##hoarders #DeclutterYourSpace #declutteryourlife #hoarderhome #hoarderhelp #declutteryourhome #romseycleaner #romseybusiness #peoplewhohoarduk #understandingHoardingUK

At JDog Clarkston, we often encounter homes filled not just with items, but with stories and emotions. Hoarding is more than clutter; it's a complex issue with deep emotional roots. Here are some impact considerations when helping someone who struggles with hoarding. 🔹Safety Concerns: Clutter can create fire hazards and block escape routes. 🔹Health Risks: Overcrowded spaces can lead to unsanitary conditions, affecting physical and mental well-being. 🔹Social Isolation: The inability to invite people inside can result in loneliness. 🔹Strained Relationships: The stress of hoarding can be a wedge between family and friends. Approaching with Compassion 🔸Understanding: Recognize that hoarding is a psychological issue, not just a matter of cleanliness. 🔸Patience: Clearing out is a journey, not a one-day task. Small steps matter. 🔸Support: Encouraging progress, no matter how minor, can make a huge difference. 🔸Professional Help: Sometimes, involving mental health experts is necessary for the best care. To friends and family of hoarders: You're not alone. It's about providing support and understanding, not just cleaning up. If you're struggling to help a loved one, JDog Clarkston is here. We approach each situation with respect, integrity, and trust, honoring the stories behind the stuff. It can be easier if it is known that we may be able to do something great with their possessions. In the photos below, many unopened new items from a hoarding situation were an incredible gift to our friends at Humble Design in Pontiac. Together, we can make a difference, one space at a time. 💚 📞 844-GET-JDOG or 248-232-0471 #JDogClarkston #HoardingAwareness #CompassionateCleanup #CommunitySupport
