As you can see from my cheeser, I’m absolutely buzzing about my new GEN S Transitions lenses from EssilorLuxottica ! I’ve never had Transitions lenses before, and let’s just all admit, we associate them with our ‘older’ customers… However, I’m embracing this new technology and I absolutely love them! The Pop Specs kiosk in Livingston is in direct sunlight a lot of the day, so these are perfect as I suffer with slight photophobia. Another reason to try them out, is so I can sell them to my customers with absolute confidence, and show them in real time how they work! Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese Zen master, peace activist, and prolific writer, has spoken about the importance of smiling in several of his teachings. He believes that a smile can be a source of joy and happiness, and that it can help cultivate peace and mindfulness in our daily lives. In one of his teachings, he suggests using mindful breathing to cultivate joy, peace, freedom, and happiness in our daily life. The fourth step in this practice is to “smile to yourself and release all your worries, regrets, and ideas of happiness that prevent you from being happy in the present moment”. He also emphasizes that we can be happy right here and right now, if we go home to the present moment and recognize the many conditions of happiness that are already available to us.

Perspective... 'Is it better with lens 1 or 2?' 'Lens 1 or 2?' 'Now what about 3 or 4?' In the optometrist's office the corresponding lenses would flicker and show me a different view on the screen each time. The optometrist would give me the option to enhance and improve the strength of my prescription lens. Based on what I was seeing, I would give my feedback and we would go through a few adjustments. Always finetuning the lens and getting specific about the vision. What if we did the same in our own lives? Assess what we see, run an internal check on whether the lens through which we view life, is still working and relevant. If not, we get ready to evolve our perspective and find a different, if not better lens through which to see things. Sometimes it may be an entire overhaul needed. At other times, we might need to do some minor adjustments.
