It’s intern season! Here are the top 3 things that I did that I feel helped me successfully convert my summer internship into my full time job (tips apply to all industries): ✨ Have bias for action Be the intern that embodies proactivity. Show how you are adding value by being alert for opportunities that you can help support. ✨ Ask for forgiveness not permission This is very specifically a reminder for people like myself who are afraid of being “too much.” Own the space that you have as an intern and show that you know your worth with confidence. ✨ Document and socialize your work Keep track of those wins and share them with your manager and other people on the team! Get the visibility of other people that can vouch for you when the time comes to convert interns. Share this for all the incoming summer interns out there, and also add below any other tips you have for upcoming interns! #summerintern #internshiptips #uxdesigner #productdesigner #careergrowth

One of the most common questions we've heard is how you can make the most out of your internship? Julia Fernandez answers this from a Product Designer point of view which is basically the same for all interns including software engineers with one additional side note: be a productive engineer by writing code that solves problems and review code from others even if you're only asking questions.

As my 2 month internship at AccioJob (YC 19) comes to an end, I reflect upon the internship experience and the key learnings I gained. The internship experience was a roller coaster ride with tasks ranging from product to sales to marketing. I was assigned to launch one new line of service called Direct Placement Service from scratch. The internship involved : (A) B2C Sales: Getting hands-on experience by talking directly to customers, understanding their pain points and pitching them the new product (B) Product Management: Making a product from scratch - involving handling cross-functional teams ( design team, dev team) and making product flow decisions (C) Acquisition Strategy: Crafting an acquisition strategy using organic marketing and already existing distribution channels (D) Workflow Automation: Automating workflows to improve the efficiency of data analysis and work division Some of the things I have learnt while going back and forth in launching this service: (A) Clarity of Purpose: While I was trying to improve the funnel numbers, I often lost track of the main hypothesis that we were trying to test, which led to scattered actions and fewer insights (B) Importance of interacting with the target market: The initial 40-50 sales calls not only helped me to get clear on how to position the new service but also gave me an idea of how the target market thinks and what are the issues that are hindering conversion rates (C) Actions produce information: Vishu Bansal made me realize that the product/service need not be perfect in version 1. It is important to launch and analyze the engagement and then iterate. The more information you have, the better decisions you can make while iterating. I am very grateful to the entire AccioJob team for giving me this opportunity to learn and contribute to the vision. A special thanks to Vishu Bansal who guided me throughout the internship, taught me a lot of lessons in building, motivated me to get out of my comfort zone, and gave me constructive feedback from time to time.

Without a doubt, I can say that my internship at Holtz Companies has been far more valuable than I could have expected, although the bar was high. I started out part-time before the summer began in the I-T Department. There I learned how business gets done in the modern business world. Electronically. The complex and vast programs a company must incorporate into the daily flow of the office team are highly complex, made simple by the IT staff. In marketing, however, I have developed my understanding about every department in-house. Seeing how truly every part of a successful company must work in synergy to progress has been a wonderful experience. Furthermore, I have developed a better understanding of marketing through different tasks. For example: Social Media Management - creating posts, networking, and promoting a brand Website Management - keeping information up to date, state of the art features, user friendliness, and client outreach Collaboration - working with co-workers to execute their ideas, meeting a deadline, working with other companies, etc. Overall, I am excited to finish out the summer here Holtz Companies. After only a short tenure, I have already improved my understanding of all corners of the business world, and I'm eager to continue to learn! #holtzbuilders #internship #marketing
