3 BILLION TREES BY 2030 ___________________________ EU’s effort to inverting deforestation and reduce environmental threats   The 'Rooting for 3 Billion Trees' conference on past Wednesday, 20 March, brought together tree planting organizations, NGOs, and authorities from the EU to share best practices and recommendations for achieving this ambitious target. https://lnkd.in/dTYMPuTz The initiative highlights the importance of forests in mitigating climate change impacts and stresses the need for concerted action, in alignment with broader EU strategies aimed at advancing sustainability. This additional planting of 3 billion trees by 2030 is also part of the EU Biodiversity and Forest Strategy. ⚠The planting of trees is seen as a crucial step in achieving climate goals, with the EU Commission emphasizing the role of nature-based solutions in addressing environmental challenges. The event focuses on natural regeneration as an ecologically valuable form of reforestation, symbolized by the planting of climate-robust tree species. Reforestation after forest fires and the importance of diverse forest ecosystems have also been highlighted, supported by new EU guidelines. Our goal was to learn more about the reserve’s ecology and explore how it can serve as a model for reforestation in similar environments.
