🎉 Today is a big day! 🎉 I am incredibly grateful to announce that today, July 10, 2024, marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of Facilitron. It's been an amazing journey, and I wanted to share a letter I wrote to our incredible team who made this milestone possible: Team, Today is a big day! I am grateful to announce that today, July 10, 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the founding of Facilitron. Looking back on that day, we had only an idea, but we had people who believed in that idea and were dedicated to taking a risk and building something brand new from the ground up. We really had no idea how this idea, this approach to business, would blossom into such an incredible company with such an amazing impact on school districts and other public space operators and their communities. And all along the way, the deeper we got into it, the more we learned, the more it seemed that our idea and our growing company was built for the future. There have been pivotal moments already in our 10 years – early on it was simply remaining committed to the service fee model when it was being questioned during our early meetings. Later, well after we thought we were on our way, we were faced with surviving a pandemic that slowed our revenue to a trickle. Particularly with that era in mind, getting to our 10th birthday has taken incredible courage. The achievement of surviving COVID is perhaps a perfect example of our dedication, our resiliency, our determination to be amazing and transformational. We all made huge sacrifices, essentially doubling down that our idea and business was meant for great things. When I talk to prospective investors, that's often what they are most amazed by! Now as we begin to celebrate, we look at our achievements. Over 300 school districts, 12,000 campuses, 8 of the top 10 largest school districts in the country, 600 million events, the world's largest public spaces rental marketplace. We have amazing software, an amazing business, and the people that we have are even more amazing! Thank you to all of you for what we’ve accomplished together over the past ten years, and more importantly to what we’ll be accomplishing in the future, to make the most of the incredible opportunity that’s now in front of us! Thank you again for all of your hard work and amazing dedication! Here's to 10 amazing years…..and to an incredible future! The Liter of Light Project This project was launched to tackle the rising cost of electricity in the Philippines, aiming to illuminate 1 million homes. This innovative approach uses plastic bottles to provide indoor lighting from daylight, an idea originally developed by Brazilian mechanic Alfredo Moser. In 2011, the Liter of Light movement began, inspired by Moser’s simple yet effective invention. By mixing bleach with water in an empty bottle and placing it in a hole in the roof, Moser discovered he could illuminate his house during the day, creating the equivalent of a 40-60 Watt lightbulb. Filipino organization MyShelter adopted this concept and transformed it into a global movement, teaching communities how to install these lights. This solution is invaluable for areas lacking reliable electricity, lighting homes at no cost during daylight hours across the Philippines, India, Bangladesh, Tanzania, Argentina, and Fiji. Recognizing the need for night-time illumination, Litro de Luz developed a system to store solar energy. This system includes a solar panel, a battery, LED lamps inside a PET bottle, and a control circuit that activates the light as it gets dark. The Liter of Light project not only provides sustainable lighting but also empowers communities by teaching them to harness and utilize renewable energy. “After 22 years of serving in the Army, I officially retired this year. I served ten years on active duty and 12 years as a reservist. I held several roles, including communications officer, network engineer and civil affairs officer. My time as a commander of the 44 Soldier Company was the best time I had. It was lots of work and long hours, but bringing a company of men and women together was remarkable to see and be a part of. I came to Securian in 2016 as a project manager, and now I’m a leader of people for a team of project managers. The people at Securian are open to developing relationships that are both professional and personal, and one way they do that is through employee resource groups. As co-lead of our Servicemember Associate Resource Group, it’s nice knowing others with similar backgrounds and experiences are also making a career in the financial services industry. May is Military Appreciation Month, and there are many associates at Securian, who have family in the military or have military connections and have a lot of pride for those they know who have served or are currently serving. It’s a great time to exercise some patriotism.” We’re thankful for our servicemembers on #TeamSecurianFinancial and thankful to Harold Price, Leader of People in the Enterprise Project Management Office, for sharing a little bit of his story with us in honor of #MilitaryAppreciationMonth.

Congratulations to Dr. Prisca Barnes on the groundbreaking of the Storytime Village Literacy Center. Storytime Village is a Kansas-based children's literacy organization that has inspired a love of reading in underserved children from birth to age eight. The Literacy Center is set to serve approximately 16,726 residents and community members in a low-income area of northeast Wichita.
