TIP OF THE DAY: When presenting your resume, don't assume everyone knows about your company or its services. A good resume should provide a brief overview of the company, including its size, products/services, and customer base. This will help paint a clear picture for the reader. Remember, a well-crafted resume can make all the difference! #ResumeTips #CareerAdvice

The elusive resume!! Many times the information we get in school when it comes to our resume is outdated. It’s time to brush the dust off your resume and revamp it to land your dream job. You have only 6 seconds to grab a recruiter’s attention so what will absolutely get your resume passed over? 5 Things That Can Send Your Resume to the Trash: 1. Unprofessional Email Address Using an email like "coolguy123@gmail(dot)com" is a quick way to seem unprofessional. Stick to something simple like your first and last name. 2. Irrelevant Job Experience Filling your resume with jobs that don’t relate to the position you're applying for wastes space. Highlight only the experience that matches the role. 3. Overused Buzzwords Phrases like “team player” or “hard worker” are vague. Instead, use concrete examples to showcase your skills. 4. Poor Formatting A cluttered resume with mismatched fonts and styles is hard to read. Stick to a clean format and structure that allows easy scanning. 5. Typos and Errors Even one typo can ruin your chances. Always proofread multiple times or have someone else review it to ensure there are no errors. Your resume is often your first impression - make it count by avoiding these common pitfalls! #ResumeInsights #CareerXperts

I had an interesting conversation today with someone who asked, 'Why should my resume be short? I have decades of experience.' They truly did have an impressive background. But then I asked them, 'How much time would you spend reading someone else's resume?' They thought for a moment and replied, 'About a minute.' That was the moment they realized why a resume needs to be concise. If people typically spend just a minute skimming through resumes, you need to create something that can be fully read and understood in that short time. Otherwise, you're including a lot of details that no one will even see. This is why the '30-second scan test' is such a crucial standard. Either make it short or strategically use bold or italics to draw attention to key sections. But the goal is simple: in about 30 seconds, someone should be able to scan your resume and get the most important points. And there's an added benefit to this. By highlighting key parts, you can guide the reader's focus to the areas of your experience that matter most and steer the conversation in your favor. So, does your resume pass the 30-second scan test?" #ResumeTips #CareerAdvice #JobSearch

If there was a Resume Olympics, this 💫 Resume Transformation💫 would get you there! 🏆 By following a few key guidelines for layout and content, you can take your resume from ordinary to outstanding.👇 🏅EACH ROLE = 3 bullets Good things come in threes! It takes at least 3 bullets to fully convey the imperative details about the context, tasks, and outcomes of your experience. 🏅 EACH BULLET = At least 3/4 of a line Bullets that are shorter than this will inevitably look like a mundane list of tasks you performed. 🏅 EACH PAGE = No more than 1/3 white space* Too much white space probably means your bullets are too short and your sections are sparse. *Unless your resume includes a second page – of which only 1/3 or 1/2 is full - and you don’t have a partial section spilling on to the second page. 👉 TAKEAWAY: Your resume is a mirror of how exceptional you are. Use all of the space you have to pack a punch and showcase the context, scope, and outcome of the work that you've done.

When it comes to crafting your resume, there's always a question: How long should it be? The truth is, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. Your resume should be like a good story: concise, engaging, and leaving the reader wanting more. Recruiters and hiring managers are busy people. They appreciate brevity and clarity. So, aim to keep your resume succinct, focusing on the most relevant and impactful information. One page is often the gold standard, especially for those early in their careers or with less extensive experience. But if you have more to say and it's all relevant, don't be afraid to spill onto a second page. Just make sure every detail earns its place. Remember, quality over quantity. P.S; Let your achievements and experiences speak for themselves. Whether it's one page or two, make sure it tells a compelling story of who you are as a professional. #ResumeTips #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment

Career Coach & Resume Writer | Helping Professionals Articulate Their Unique Value | HR Consultancy Services
How long should your resume be? This is a question that I get very often. Well, most of the times, we all buy a product or service from an individual who makes us feel confident in the specific item. That being said, the question should be, what information does the organization need to know about us to make them more confident that I am the right candidate. Answering this question will help you condense your resume significantly. Most people include too much information. Companies don’t need a comprehensive overview, they need a summary that clearly shows you’re a fit for the role. Sometimes, a great resume can extend to a third page. If the resume is well-crafted, length doesn't matter. However, if it’s poorly organized and the reader has to dig for key information, a 3-page resume can be a deal-breaker. Focus on making your resume a persuasive summary, not an exhaustive account.

Have you ever walked out of a movie early? Now, imagine that movie was your resume. What are you doing to “hook” the reader in the first few seconds? Many people focus on how many bullet points to include in their resume, but the real question should be: Is your first bullet your best one? Just like a movie needs to start strong, your resume should too. Here’s the secret: The first bullet point should highlight your most impressive accomplishment, the second should be your next best, and so on. Each bullet should build on the last, keeping the recruiter interested—just like a well-written movie plot. Is your resume structured to keep the reader engaged?
