Dear colleagues, business partners and followers! This week Talent Plastics Tartu starts with the much awaited summer holiday. During the period of 15.07-04.08, the Tartu Talents: 1) explore emails such as hotel room bookings to Portugal, Malta or maybe even another city in Estonia; 2) receive packages from Amazon or local providers as during holidays Estonians usually think its the best time to start renovating the house; 3) produce grilled food more then one should in a short period of time per person. Scrap rate will be 0, nothing will remain without use and usually there is high precision operating at the grill; 4) discuss whether to go to the beach or hike this time around. Could be the toughest discussion of them all as the weather promises to be nice (fingers crossed!). Being outside is a non negotiable; 5) and many more fulfilling and important tasks. Suffice to say, there is much to do but we try to rest as well to come back and be ready to tackle the work related tasks as actively as the mentioned list above. We wish you all a great holiday and fun summer! We all need and deserve it :) #talentplastics #summerholidays

"𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲!" 𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗴𝗿𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿—𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱𝗹𝘆, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀. Today I came across a collage of vintage news clippings showing how we have been having the same conversation since at least 1894. This reminded me of conversations I had while working the front desk at a Copenhagen hotel in 2018. At the time, Fox News’ Trish Regan had just aired a segment claiming that no one in Denmark wanted to work. In her narrative, everyone supposedly worked for the government, and lazy college graduates spent their days dreaming of opening cupcake cafés instead of pursuing “real” careers—because, apparently, there was no economic incentive to do otherwise. For about a week afterward, (some) American tourists kept asking me variations of the same question: "Why don’t you want to work?" (Ironically, I was working.) They also asked if it was true that all Danish graduates aspired to open cupcake cafés. Of course, this was 2018—the era when every entrepreneurship program taught 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘱 as gospel. So, no, we didn’t want to start cupcake cafés. We wanted to launch cupcake 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴, A/B test the business model, scale into food trucks, and only then—after proving the concept—open a cupcake café. I'll link the original Fox News segment in the comments. Also, the attached image appears to be a compilation based on tweets from Paul Fairie (@paulisci) on X. 🙏 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 Carlsberg Foundation

Reykjavik, Iceland, is one of the few capital cities in the world without a McDonald's restaurant. The last McDonald’s in Iceland closed in 2009 due to the global financial crisis, and the franchise never returned. Instead, Icelanders turned to local fast-food options, which are often seen as healthier and more sustainable. This absence makes Reykjavik stand out in a world where McDonald’s dominates urban landscapes. Interestingly, Iceland also banned strip clubs in 2010, further reflecting the country’s unique approach to business and cultural values. Additionally, the country relies heavily on locally-sourced ingredients, which aligns with their commitment to environmental sustainability.

Closing the week of Asia CanTech 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, 🇻🇳 Most of us will agree that the biggest asset of canmaking as an industry is the people within it. 💪🏻 And we just had another chance to get together with those canmaking friends (other industries would call them customers, suppliers and competitors) in Asia. We discussed ways to continue improving our planet, at least as far as environmentally friendly beverage packaging goes! 🌏🙌🏻 The path is clear; increase the use of metal packaging in our beverages and food, and CPM Beverage & Packaging Solutions still leads the way with the most energy efficient washers, ovens and conveyors in the market.

“But why did we need to separate the fleets? Because despite everyone's best efforts, sometimes the food spills into the delivery boxes. In those cases, the smell of the previous order travels to the next order, and may lead to the next order smelling of the previous order. For this reason, we had to separate the fleet for veg orders.” Next is what? Your “pure” delivery agent is smelling of “impure” food? Please ensure the agent is pure as well! We should know better. We’re curry people! #zomato #casteism (The above text is from Goyal’s tweet, linked from comments)

What makes the UK a critical market for Estrella Damm? ⭐🍺 Last week, the British Embassy Madrid visited Estrella Damm's historic brewery in Barcelona—a place where 150 years of tradition meet modern innovation. British Consul General in Barcelona, Lloyd Milen, and the team from the British Consulate - Jessica Griffiths, Aurora Ortega, and Paul Clark joined Ramon Agenjo, Jorge Villavecchia, Juan Gonzalez, and Gabriel Petrus to discuss Estrella Damm’s impressive expansion into the UK. Why does this matter? 🤝 10,000+ UK bars and restaurants serve Estrella Damm, proving its popularity with British consumers. 🏭 A £50 million investment in Bedford’s Eagle Brewery brings local production to the UK, marking Damm’s first brewery outside the Iberian Peninsula. 🌱 This investment reduces imports, boosts sustainability, and caters to growing UK demand. The visit highlighted the support the Department for Business and Trade at the British Embassy Madrid and British Consulate Barcelona offers international businesses in their UK journeys, as well as the strength of UK-Spain trade ties. This collaboration goes beyond beer—it’s about strengthening trade, building sustainable partnerships, and fostering cultural connections. #Barcelona #Sustainability #TradeAndInvestment #GlobalGrowth #UKBeerIndustry
