I am sharing this bcoz I tolerate this everyday in clinic and I want everyone to suggest me how to cope with this.. Misbehavior from patients towards young female dentists can be a significant issue, impacting their professional environment and mental well-being. This issue reflects broader societal attitudes and gender biases that persist in many areas. The types of misbehavior can vary, and the implications can be profound for the young professionals involved. 1.Gender Bias and Disrespect: Some patients may doubt the competence of young female dentists solely based on their gender and age, exhibiting condescending attitudes or questioning their expertise more rigorously than they would with male dentists. 2.Intimidation and Aggression : Young female dentists might encounter aggressive behavior from patients who attempt to intimidate them, undermining their authority and creating a hostile work environment. 4.Microaggressions : These are subtle, often unintentional, comments or actions that convey demeaning messages. Examples include assuming the female dentist is a nurse or questioning their decisions more frequently than those of their male counterparts. Impact on Young Female Dentists 1. Mental Health: Experiencing repeated misbehavior can lead to stress, anxiety, and a decrease in job satisfaction. It can affect their mental health and overall well-being, potentially leading to burnout. 2. Professional Confidence : Persistent disrespect or harassment can erode a young female dentist's confidence in her professional abilities, affecting her performance and career progression Addressing patient misbehavior towards young female dentists requires a multifaceted approach, involving institutional support, societal change, and personal resilience. By fostering a culture of respect and equality, the dental profession can ensure that all practitioners, regardless of gender or age, can work in a safe and supportive environment. #work #dentistry #motivation #female dentists

Beyond the Medical Industry: Addressing Safety Concerns for Women Across All Sectors The recent remarks by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) concerning the loopholes in the medical industry, particularly in relation to the R.G. Kar rape case, and the establishment of a National Task Force have sparked a much-needed conversation about safety within the medical fraternity. As I see news flashing on the suo moto proceedings for the R.G Kar Medical College and Hospital, I feel this is a crucial discourse, it is essential not to overlook the broader picture—the "pervasive threat to the safety and dignity of women across all sectors of society." The focus must extend beyond the medical industry to encompass the myriad of workplaces where women continue to face harassment, abuse, and violence. The unfortunate reality is that women, regardless of the sector they work in, are often vulnerable to various forms of exploitation and violence. Whether it’s in corporate offices, educational institutions, service industries, or blue-collar jobs, the systemic issues of gender-based violence and harassment persist. These problems are not confined to any one profession or industry but are endemic across the board, reflecting deep-seated societal attitudes and structural inequalities. The CJI's focus on the medical industry, while valid, serves as a microcosm of the larger issue at hand. The recent case highlights how systemic failures, including inadequate security measures, insufficient legal frameworks, and a lack of accountability, contribute to the unsafe environments that many women face. These issues are not unique to the medical sector but are prevalent across all industries. The question we must ask is: Are we doing enough to protect women in all workplaces? Changes take time. But every time there is a change there are high chances that it is at the cost of someone's Dignity! Sad, is'nt it? There are some questions that should be asked and should be raised irrespective of one's profession! Today its someone, tomorrow it will be someone else. With increased population the crime rate is also increasing and it is at these time when one should wake up, be aware of its rights and duties. It is us, the individuals who built the society, law acts for us we do make a difference. please, do think. Women leave emergency medicine on average 12 years sooner than their male counterparts. https://lnkd.in/gwrEban7 As I read this article, a few thoughts came to mind. "Of course women leave early! How can we balance it all?" The authors of the article cite such things as gender bias, caregiving responsibilities of aging parents and young children, societal expectations, burnout. I agree that many of these factors can be relevant. But then I thought, why aren't we proactively addressing the loss of all of these amazing female colleagues? What would it take for these women to stay? In short, what would a "win" look like for them? Are you a female emergency physician? What does a win look like for you?

Women in surgical gastroenterology! Glimpses of our surgeons discussing on creating a path for women in GI surgery means evolving and building a more inclusive and supportive environment. This includes implementing policies such as sabbatical leaves and maternity leaves, ensuring fair practices to avoid gender bias, receiving increased support from our peers and mentors and providing childcare facilities in medical institutions. These changes can be crucial for allowing women to balance their professional and personal lives, fostering an equitable workplace, and enabling them to thrive in their careers. Dr. Peush Sahni expressed that "it is important to soften our approach and look at things from different perspectives." #AIGHospitals #Womeninsurgery #womeningastroentrology #womeningastro #gastro #gastroenterology #womeninmedicine #womeninhealthcare #healthcare #Womeninsurgery2024
