Transformative CEO at Zina's Salads Inc. | Innovator in Artisanal Food Production | Passionate Advocate for Quality and Sustainability | Believer in the Unifying Power of Food
Alex C and I come from similar worlds apart—the post-Soviet terrains of Russia and the now war-torn Donetsk region of Ukraine. Our childhoods were overshadowed by the pangs of food scarcity, a memory that now fuels our purpose at Zina's. I remember the lengths to which my parents went to provide for me amid widespread need. Their resilience inspired my vow when I joined Zina's over ten years ago, and ever since, we have chosen to annually contribute to the cause of helping end food insecurity. We have kept that promise, contributing annually. Now, as 2024 approaches, we're ready to broaden our impact and invite organizations aligned with our vision to join us. Our past is not just a story; it's our call to action. If your mission resonates with ours, or if you know a group that shares our passion for change, let's connect. Together, let's ensure our next steps leave a lasting footprint in the fight against hunger. #EndHungerNow #TogetherAgainstHunger
At Zina's, fighting food insecurity is personal. Many of our team members have witnessed its impact firsthand. In 2023, Zina's Fine Foods had the privilege of contributing to Table to Table remarkable effort to combat food insecurity. Our donation of 8,000 pounds of prepared foods and ingredients was part of a larger movement that provided meals to over 500,000 individuals. As we plan for an even greater impact next year, we invite your ideas and suggestions for future donations. #ZinasFineFoods #ZinasSalads #Zinas #ZinasCares #EndHunger #FoodDonation #MakeADifference #HelpingHands

Marketing & Branding| A body and brain creating brand value at Chargeup | I just paint, mostly brand stories and sometimes walls
What's better than a marketing campaign that makes your consumers love you? A campaign that not only makes your consumers love you, but also shifts the spotlight away from your competitor…. Burger King pulled it off in Argentina during McDonald's McHappy Day A day where all sales from McDonald’s iconic burgers were donated to help children with cancer…. Burger King's response? "A Day Without Whopper." On that day, Burger King halted sales of their famous Whopper, urging customers to support McDonald's and contribute to the noble cause. Anyone who ordered a Whopper was kindly directed to the nearest McDonald's instead. How did McDonald's win? By raising high sales and, consequently, higher donations. But how did Burger King win? With millions in advertising and PR value, all without spending a dime. #advertising #burgerking #mcdonalds #competitor #marketingcampaigns

Food insecurity — the lack of access to sufficient food, particularly nutritious food, due to limited financial resources — has devastating consequences for health, social, economic, and educational outcomes. FEI works to increase access to nourishing food. Our Food Is Medicine Home program provides clients with produce and shelf-stable foods each month. When you give to FEI, you are ensuring that those experiencing both food insecurity and a diet-treated condition can get the food is medicine they need. Please share this post to show your support of our work. #kcmo #kck #food #kcfoodie #foodinsecure #donate #nonprofit #kcnonprofit #nonprofitconnect #kansascity #foodismedicine❤️ #foodismedicine

I’ve always believed that businesses, even when competing, can find room to collaborate. Sounds counterintuitive? 🤔 Let’s take a moment to flip the script. This is about the Day Without Whoppers – the day Burger King sent its customers to McDonalds! Every year, McDonald's celebrates McHappy Day in Argentina, where each BigMac they sell helps raise funds for children battling cancer. But in 2017, Burger King decided to embrace the noble cause and stopped selling Whoppers! The idea was to encourage the customers to buy McDonald’s BigMac’s and contribute to the charitable cause. And they managed it in the most delightful and fun way possible! Whoever went to a Burger King restaurant across Argentina and ordered a Whopper on McHappy Day, was politely asked to go to their competitor instead, “the place where they don’t flame grill their burgers" 😉 All these interactions were captured on camera, with surprised customers wondering what happened to their favourite burger. The result? Burger King sold 0 Whoppers that day, but won millions of hearts with their sweet gesture! That is why I think that when competitors work together, they can fuel innovation, solve bigger problems, and—guess what—grow the pie for everyone involved! So, how about looking at the competitors around you as potential collaborators? You might be surprised at the new doors that open 🙌🙌 #competition #mchappyday #opportunities #growth #initiative

Executive Director | Nonprofit Strategic Leadership | Solving Complex Food Insecurity Supply Chain Challenges In Texas & Beyond
Over the last year and a half we have doubled down on first understanding the nature of the food supply chain, and then retooling our operations to ensure sustainable growth. The proof is in the pudding as they say, or in this case, the protein. I would not bet against this team…once again delivering when the market is stacked against them. 26 pallets of turkey breast just unloaded and about to go into our freezer in #Texas. Well done Chris D. Lee Steve Whitford Karl Steidinger Brian Zink #foodinsecurity #supplychain #foodindustry #nonprofit #nonprofitleadership #ifyouknowyouknow

I presented my final action research project on the topic "Enhancing food donation awareness among catering businesses in Rhode Island: Understanding legal protections to navigate food donations safely and with minimal risk". My goal in this project is to increase food donations in Rhode Island through catering businesses in order to achieve zero waste. Three threads include perception and behavior of caterers towards leftover food, food donation laws and protocols and Incentives for leftover food donations. These threads helped me to find out the perspectives about food donations among caterers. Through interviews and surveys, I found out some barriers in food donations, and was also able to provide solutions to catering businesses on how to reduce food waste and food insecurity through food donations. Thanks to Branden Lewis for helping me to choose this great topic, and thanks for supporting me throughout this journey. Thanks Isaac Bearg for providing me enough knowledge on food donations and the Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donation Act. Also, thanks to Dana Siles for sharing information about food incentives. #fooddonations #foodwaste #foodinsecurity #Billemersongoodsamaritonfooddonationslaw #barriersinfoododnations #foodincentives

What would you eat? Honoring the humanity of who we serve means giving free, fresh, healthy, high-quality food with nutritional value. We don’t give food that no one else would eat. Food insecurity is a condition, not a condemnation. We’re changing the condition with Meals in the Meantime. - Kevin M. Yates, President & Founder #nonprofit #charity #foodpantry
