That’s a wrap on Hadean’s time at #SOFWeek2024! After a valuable three days with the SOF community, we’re heading back to base. A big thank you to the Department for Business and Trade, the UK Defence and Security Exports team, and our UK Pavilion neighbours.
Before we go, here’s a snapshot of our key takeaways:
1️⃣ One force, one environment
The SOF community is inherently joint in nature; they integrate different capabilities from different forces across multi-domains for strategic impact. Interoperability of technologies, systems, and tools is a necessity not an aspiration.
2️⃣ Simultaneous modernisation and transformation
It’s vital that the community are able to continue using functioning and effective equipment whilst concurrently continuing to innovate. Connecting present and future systems to bridge and evolve, rather than constantly replace. There’s a budgetary benefit, of course, but maintaining tempo and a strategic edge is critical.
3️⃣ Multi-level scalability for strategic impact
USSOCOM delivers impact from the tactical level to the strategic. Deployed technologies must replicate and facilitate this agility to offer the capability to move between levels from the micro to the macro. Recognising the tactical complexity and environmental context that influences the overall strategic picture is imperative.
