I think I fundamentally disagree with this. Or at least I only agree with aspects of it when work culture is wrong but not when work culture is right… I think we need to turn it on its head… and think life work balance rather than work life balance… I think work *should* be family… or at least community. I believe really, really strongly that we’ve forgotten - on so many levels - how to be community. Exacerbated by Covid. 168 hours in a week… 35-40 hours minimum in work… up to nearly 25% (1/4)… or more that 35% (1/3) of our waking hours… and that’s without the numerous hours of overtime that most of us are familiar with. What if work were a place that we actively built community? Where we had wholesome relationships that celebrate the completeness of everything that we are and love? Wouldn’t all the horrible stuff then fall away? Wouldn’t we then have joy and purpose and fulfilment in work? If you feel that you have to put up tough boundaries and constantly ‘switch off’ - the issue isn’t work, the issue is culture. IMHO

This piece of advice really struck a chord with me. It’s so easy to get lost in your work persona and when it’s no longer there it’s frightening to realise you don’t have a clue who you are, what you like, what’s important to you and your friends have dwindled in numbers considerably to less than a handful. It’s taken me several months to shake off feeling burnt out, find my personality and I’m still learning what I like and want to spend my time doing and with. So my advice is - put safeguards in place to prevent getting lost, practice gratitude for your personal life, spend time with those that like you for being you and not your role or title.

Achieving work-life balance is key to personal and professional success. Prioritize tasks, set boundaries, and remember to take time for yourself. It’s not about a perfect split, but finding harmony that prevents burnout and promotes well-being. #WorkLifeBalance #SelfCare

Absolutely, your job is just one aspect of your life, not your entire existence. While it's important to excel in your professional endeavors and pursue career goals, it's equally essential to maintain a healthy work-life balance. Your job shouldn't define your worth or consume all your time and energy. It's essential to prioritize your well-being, relationships, hobbies, and personal growth outside of work. Remember, a fulfilling life encompasses various aspects beyond your professional role.
