Signing new partners cannot be the sole focus of a new partner program. It also needs to be about the less glamorous yet vital role of Partner Operations. A partnerships without operations is like sailing without a compass. You need metrics to navigate. The common initial focus on deal signing is understandable, but it overlooks the long-term picture. Operations is where the real magic happens - managing relationships, working with marketing, and analyzing data. It's easy to count partners as a measure of success, but true progress is seen in the ROI, which takes time. Splitting the team, with one side focused on recruiting partners and the other on operations, ensures a balanced approach. When building your partnerships team, your second hire should ideally be in partner operations. This role isn't just about support It's the foundation of a data-driven strategy that actually works.
