Humility is the steadfast refusal to elevate oneself above others, recognizing the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. Is the gentle reminder that none are above another, embracing equality and compassion in every interaction. www.DuBos.me . . #InnovativeLeadership #TeamEmpowerment #StrategicGrowth #InspireGreatness #SuccessMindset #VisionaryLeadership #ResilientEntrepreneur #LeadershipExcellence #AdaptabilityWins #SuccessStories #AmbitionUnleashed #DrivenByPurpose #ResourcefulLeadership #UnlockingPotential #ContinuousImprovement

Principles are fundamental beliefs that are deeply embedded in our minds. As we navigate life, we encounter various experiences that shape our understanding of the world. Along the way, it becomes apparent that specific values should be cultivated. These values help define who we are as individuals and as members of society. A quote by Rosa Parks, a renowned civil rights movement activist, reflects something similar about values and principles. #contemplation #thought #leadership #leadershipskills #learning #education #lifelonglearning #thoughfuleadership #motivation #inspiration #growing #professionalgrowth #leadingteam #leadinglife #Wordstogetyouthroughyourday

Our world is looking for those who are kind in heart not just superficially nice! Humanity is hungry to experience authentic honor without the need to dig through the rubble of egocentric flattery. The societal landscape is searching for those who are genuinely trustworthy, carry moral authority, treat others honorably in private as well as in public, speak truth rather than sugar-coated manipulation, and are motivated to be an instrument of justice using their power for good. Now, let us avoid pointing an accusatory finger, but become what we want to see in our world. #justice #higherthinking #HigherLivingLeadership #stopdevaluation #unmaskingprejudice #challenge #selfleadership #leadership

I absolutely love this advice. There's no such thing as a self-made man. The whole history of humanity is build on successes of collaboration and support. On learning and teaching. So why do we have this notion that successful people do it on their own? I also thoroughly believe that the more senior your become, the more strategic the task, the less you can do on your own. You need more and more support the further you move up the ladder. https://lnkd.in/dynBbKsJ

Author of The Road Away from God, How to Survive a Shipwreck & The Book of Waiting | Director of DePauw University Center for Spiritual Life | Pastor of Fillmore UMC Here to howl, spread wonder, & help you find meaning
Some of us know what it is to be in religious spaces where if you deviate from the group even a little bit, you get shamed…passive aggresively at first, then explicitly, overlty. Some of us have found less moralistic spaces to be equally intense about policing insiders and outsiders, even when the group values are ostensibly about justice, kindness, compassion. If you deviate even a little, and don’t curry favor with the (less official) leadership, you’re shamed passive aggresively—then openly, overtly. Inflluencers who try to help us understand the almighty algorithms claim to be more value neutral—but the algorithms are not; they are relentless. “We just want to help you get YOU out there.” But at a certain point, you don’t have enough “you” left to know who you really are, much less what you want. It doesn’t matter what the rhetoric is-if you don’t have agency, you are not yet free.

🤲🏽🤲🏾🤲🏿 Turns out, I am an angry brown woman. Whilst many women of colour have been called ‘angry’ or ‘aggressive’, it’s not really happened to me. I’ve often shared my experiences of racism and being a brown woman in this society. I’ve done it with care and I think empathy: 👩🏽 This is WHY someone said I had crap running down my legs as a child [because they had a rubbish childhood]. 👩🏽 This is WHY someone said they needed more chiefs and less Indians, while pointing at me, while working in a national organisation [because they were referencing old western movies, not me!]. 👩🏽 This is WHY only the white men and women were invited, again, to a key meeting [because they must be better than me, more useful]. 👩🏽 This is WHY people say they love me, they just don’t see the colour of my skin [because they really really love me]. When in actual fact: 🙅🏽♀️ By prioritising the practising of empathy and compassion, I have NOT prioritised my views, my experiences or my learning. 🙅🏽♀️ By prioritising others’ learning and development, I have often prioritised white-skin privilege and white people’s psychological safety instead of my own. Six months into a different lifestyle for me, and I am starting to create my own psychologically safe space. I am beginning to learn more about myself, my identity, and how my typical servant (-seva) based and undefended leadership style serves others in ways that may be unhelpful for my culture, my heritage and my tribes. So if you meet me, and find me angrier than expected, I’m going to try and not apologise for it. Instead, talk to me - about my experiences, and about your experiences. But it’s not my job to teach you. FIRST find the books and people and stories and please learn the basics yourself. Then talk to me about how you will learn to walk in my footsteps, how you will uncomfortably ‘other’ yourself so you can begin to understand what me and my community feels. #racism #priviledge #DiversityAndInclusion #BreakTheBias #EquityInAction #byDrKanani

#NYSCDiary During an interactive session at the NYSC orientation camp, I had the privilege of representing my platoon to discuss the topic "Overcoming Obstacles to Achieve Goals, Cultural Experiences, Challenges Faced in University, and Role Models" with Angel of Platoon 5 from Rivers state and Ana of Platoon 7 from Edo State. One of the key questions posed to me was how to overcome biases, particularly those rooted in cultural or racial differences in an environment like NYSC camp. I believe that the root cause of any form of bias is a fundamental lack of respect for the individual. Before any bias can be acted upon, there must first be a reduction. The perpetrator must reduce the person to a limited part of their identity, whether it be their tribe, race, or gender. This reduction process strips away the person's complexity, education, experience, value and humanity, allowing the biased individual to justify their prejudiced behavior. I've witnessed how people behave or treat others poorly simply because they do not share the same tribal background. However, I contend that the issue is not truly about tribal differences. The real problem is the lack of proper evaluation and dignity for what man is. Those who harbor biases fail to see others as whole, multifaceted beings. Hence the solution to overcoming biases lies in adopting a holistic view of people. We must recognize that a person's tribe or gender is just one aspect of their identity, something they have no control over and cannot change. Man is multifaceted, and our identities are shaped by a multitude of factors beyond our control. In many instances, those who exhibit bias are often confused and inconsistent in their behavior. When faced with a problem, their focus shifts to finding a solution rather than clinging to their prejudices. This inconsistency highlights the superficial nature of their biases. By viewing people as whole beings and respecting their inherent dignity, we can overcome biases and foster a more inclusive and respectful society. We must strive to see beyond superficial differences and appreciate the richness and complexity of each individual's identity. Only then can we truly overcome the obstacles of bias and build a community based on mutual respect and understanding. #NYSCDiary #OvercomingBias #CulturalExperiences #RespectHumanity #InclusiveSociety #Leadership #FocusOnPeople #HolisticView #NYSC #DeltaState #Iamdaniel
