We have solutions! We have to brave enough to implement them and bold enough to invest in the things that may not have an immediate ROI. We have to fight poverty. We have to increase the quality of education and quality of life of Memphians. We have to intervene in the communities with highest concentration of crime and we need to have enforcement of our laws. This requires every Memphian to do their part. This requires every Memphian to make sacrifices and critical investments. This requires every Memphian to love others and put the community above their own self interests. This requires a city to be radical. We can do it. We must do it or we will not survive. When we find our own well-being in the well-being of our city, we will understand what it means to truly thrive.

Or, for those answering tough questions, calming anxious feelings, and fostering empathy and compassion. Created after 9/11 and used worldwide ever since, it covers topics ranging from violence and war to homelessness and natural disasters. Let's talk about the crucial need for long-term support for survivors of domestic violence.  Survivors of domestic violence face unique challenges that extend beyond immediate safety concerns. Long-term support and housing are crucial because the journey to healing is ongoing. For many survivors, the effects of trauma linger, impacting their emotional, mental, and physical well-being. Having stable, long-term housing provides a foundation for rebuilding lives and fostering independence. It allows survivors the time and space to address the lasting impacts of abuse, access counseling, develop life skills, and secure employment. The extended support creates a nurturing environment, empowering survivors to break free from cycles of violence, regain control over their lives, and ultimately thrive. At Transformation House, we believe in the transformative power of long-term support, recognizing it as an essential component in the journey from survival to empowerment. In July 2018, four compassionate women in Boerne, Texas came together with a shared concern for those leaving temporary shelters, still in need of unwavering support and resources. This concern turned into a vision, and through prayer, Transformation House was born, aiming to provide local long-term transitional housing and support. In October 2018, our doors opened to our first family, turning the vision into a reality. As we reflect on our journey, we hope that Transformation House will continue to grow into a thriving community of hope and healing. The specter of eviction poses a profound threat to the future of children, undermining their stability, security, and overall well-being. The upheaval resulting from eviction can disrupt the continuity of education, jeopardize social relationships, and contribute to the cycle of poverty. Children facing eviction often endure emotional distress and trauma, which can have lasting effects on their mental and physical health. Addressing the issue of eviction is not just a matter of housing; it is a commitment to safeguarding the future prospects and potential of our youth, ensuring they have a stable foundation to thrive and contribute positively to society.

Domestic abuse is leading to homelessness at rapid rates. Every day, people are kicked out of their homes or leave to escape an abusive partner, friend or family member. These people often struggle with trauma as a result of these experiences and need specialist support. At The Connection, we can offer this support. Our team is always here to listen and never here to judge a person’s decisions or situation. We offer a safe space to recover, including access to therapy and healthcare.
