'Feminist Communities for Climate Justice' Project Coordinator with National Women's Council & Community Work Ireland
Recommendations: ⭐ Gender, equality and poverty proofing climate policies and plans Gender disaggregated data and more data relating to the experiences of marginalised communities is needed to create climate policy that serves the needs of all. Some examples of where disaggregated data being collected and used the Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s Travelling in a Woman’s Shoes report, Vienna gender mainstreaming, Barcelona taking a feminist and caring approach to city planning ⭐ Value and recognise the transformational potential of care work as low-carbon, green work which should be key to our just transition Care work is key to the gendered experience of climate change and needs to be appropriately valued and recognised in our society and meaningfully included in our climate policy and just transition strategy. ⭐ A Feminist Just Transition is a truly just transition for women where women can participate in the transition to net-zero on equal footing. This means we should develop targeted interventions for women and marginalised communities to ensure that they are not further disadvantaged by transition actions across all areas of policymaking. ⭐ Support the work of the community sector to recognise and respond to the climate crisis at a local and community work level with resources and funding ⭐ Mainstream climate justice in all areas with joined up thinking so that climate justice is not siloed. The climate crisis is an everything crisis. All issues are climate issues - transport, health, housing, inequality, care and we need to ensure no one is left behind in our transition #FeministClimateJustice

Climate resiliency, environmental justice, and community engagement should be core principles for industry as they plan for coming years. To help reinforce this and continue the discussion with key stakeholders, we are holding two upcoming climate justice webinars in January, one for the New York chapter of the National Association of Environmental Professionals and one for the Air and Waste Management Association. Sound planning saves money, saves time, and fosters stronger relationships with the communities you serve. More to come soon on the January events. #environmentaljustice #climatejustice #communityengagement

"They stress that putting equity at the center of climate policy amplifies the voices of the communities most affected, leading to strong coalitions that are essential for pushing climate action forward." You can't have climate action without environmental justice and underserved communities in mind. They are integral and vital to one another. The communities who suffer most are also in areas of the earth that are suffering most, so working to bring relief and clean energy solutions will help everyone -- people and the planet. #EnvironmentalJustice #UnderservedCommunities #ClimateAction
