The Green Hydrogen project implemented by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) at its Research and Development (R&D) Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park supports sustainable mobility in Dubai, improving energy and resource efficiency in transport. Since its launch in May 2021, the Green Hydrogen project has produced around 90 tonnes of green hydrogen.

6 months on from the #UNClimateChangeConference #COP28 in #Dubai, where nearly #200Nations coalesced around a realistic plan - the #UAEConsensus - the city has been anchoring the foundations to aid its committment to a 'low-carbon and inclusive' economic future. The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (#DEWA) announced that it has attracted AED 43.6Bn in infrastructure FDI focused on clean energy, renewables and desalination projects over the past decade. Aligned with the ambitious Dubai Clean Energy and Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategies earmarked for 2050, government efforts have sought to strengthen research, deepen collaboration, and champion knowledge exchange with partners. DEWA adopted the globally-tested Independent Power and Water Producer (#IPWP) model for its #SolarPark, #NaturalGas fuelled Power Complex, and the pioneering #ReverseOsmosis desalination plant projects as some of the project pipeline. Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) and Emirates Steel Arkan - EMSTEEL, the UAE’s largest publicly listed steel and building materials company, have announced the successful completion of a pilot project demonstrating the use of green hydrogen to produce green steel. - Goal: Pilot project successfully produces green steel using green hydrogen. - Vision: Demonstrates UAE’s plans to become a major hydrogen and green steel production hub. - Sustainability: Green hydrogen has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions in steelmaking by up to 95 percent. - Commitment: Decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries is a key element of UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 strategic initiative. Hopefully in Indonesia it can soon be developed with a scheme that is easy and attracts investors because the problem of urban waste has become a national issue in almost all big cities in Indonesia.
